Lisa Rinna's Diet and Exercise Routine: Staying Fit and Fabulous

Lisa Rinna, the actress and former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, is admired for her ageless appearance and vibrant energy. At 60, she continues to inspire many with her approach to diet, exercise, and overall well-being. Rinna emphasizes consistency, moderation, and a positive mindset.

A Balanced Approach to Diet

Rinna follows a (mostly) plant-based diet, describing herself as a "dirty vegan." She told People that she is “mostly plant-based-but if I do need to eat some meat, I’ll have it.” This flexibility allows her to enjoy a variety of foods while prioritizing plant-based options.

Embracing Moderation

Lisa believes in moderation when it comes to her diet. She avoids restrictive dieting, preferring a balanced approach. "I don’t love to use the word diet because if I do, I’ll just want to eat 10 times more,” Lisa said in a People interview. On some days, she sticks to her plant-based diet, while on others, she enjoys a burger.

Indulging in Dessert

Lisa doesn't deprive herself of treats. She enjoys baking with her kids and is a fan of cake. "The kids are baking a lot. We’ve had so much baking going on: cinnamon rolls, brownies, lemon cake," Lisa told The Los Angeles Times about her family's quarantine activities.

Delegating Cooking Duties

While she enjoys baking, Lisa admits she's not a huge fan of cooking. Luckily, her husband, Harry Hamlin, enjoys cooking and often takes charge in the kitchen. "[Harry’s] making dinner every night,” she said. “He’s cooking for us, which is a godsend because if he didn’t, I would starve. I’d literally starve. So that’s a good thing."

Addressing Food Issues

Lisa has been open about her relationship with food. Shortly after her daughter Amelia Gray Hamlin discussed her experience with an eating disorder, Lisa revealed that she has felt like she's had 'food issues' herself. "Do I have any food issues? I probably do ’cause I’m in this business," Lisa told host, Andy Cohen at the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 9 reunion.

When asked whether she felt her daughter may have picked up some of her eating habits, Lisa said she doesn't believe she has ever really dealt with an eating disorder. "I’ve been the same weight ever since I was 20,” she told the host. “But I’m not bulimic. I don’t believe I’m anorexic. I mean, we’ve talked about it. I’ve gone to therapy. I can’t blame myself, but again, I blame myself.”

Consistent Exercise Routine

Lisa has maintained a consistent fitness routine since she was 16. “I’ve had the same fitness routine since I was 16,” Rinna, 60, exclusively shared in the latest issue of Us Weekly.

Variety in Workouts

Lisa incorporates a variety of exercises into her routine to keep things interesting. "One day do the Pilates, and then the next day you play tennis. Maybe you can even incorporate a Friday night salsa dancing class with your girlfriends!" In a normal week, she mostly does yoga, which is typically an hour-long class. Sometimes she likes to go hiking or head to Soul Cycle for spin class. Lisa has even been known to take a goat yoga class or two.

Yoga and Dancing

Yoga has been a constant in Lisa's life for over two decades. “Yoga has been my life savior for 26 years I’ve been practicing now,” she said in 2018. Dancing is another favorite activity that she finds energizing.

Staying Active While Traveling

When traveling, Lisa prefers to walk and explore new cities. She can walk for miles and sometimes uses the gym in her hotel. However, when traveling for QVC, she doesn't always work out due to scheduling constraints.

Focusing on How Exercise Makes Her Feel

Lisa tries to focus on how exercise makes her feel, instead of just her looks. "I'm always doing something. I just do because I feel better," Lisa told OWN. "If I feel better, I'm nicer."

Mental and Emotional Well-being

Lisa emphasizes the importance of mental and emotional well-being in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Not Caring What Others Think

Lisa has learned to not care about what people think of her. "I just don't care about what people think about me, and that has been a tremendous gift that I have learned," she said. She is much more confident at 60 than she was at 30.

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)

Lisa is a fan of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to treat menopause symptoms. "Everything you can go through, I was going through it. I couldn't sleep, the hot flashes, everything, and I was anxious and angry and just a mess," she said about her experience with menopause. "If I'm going to have a better life by taking [hormones], I'm going to do it. If you took my hormones away, I would kill you, probably."

Prioritizing Passion

Lisa believes that passion is key to aging well. "I think it is about passion. You can't fight aging. Aging is going to happen. How do I do it so that I feel good and I'm happy? That's what I'm looking for, and I'm still passionate, and I'm still curious about life," she told Cosmo.

Lisa Rinna's Longevity Secrets

Lisa credits her good health and physique to several factors:

  • Genetics: Lisa acknowledges that she has been lucky with her genetics. "I've been very lucky with my health. My body maintains itself pretty well at this age," she added to Cosmo.
  • Moderate Lifestyle: Lisa keeps a very moderate lifestyle. "I live in moderation, even though it seems like I live very loudly and largely. I get my rest. I eat mostly healthy. I'm moderate. I don't go crazy with anything."
  • Consistency: Lisa has been working out since she was 16 years old. "For me, staying in shape has always been a part of my life, and it’s all about consistency," Lisa said during an OWN interview. "I've worked out my whole life."
