Jill Zarin, known for her time on The Real Housewives of New York City, has remained in the public eye not just for her reality TV past, but for her entrepreneurial ventures and her commitment to living a fulfilled and purposeful life. While discussions about weight loss and cosmetic procedures have surfaced, Zarin’s approach to well-being encompasses a broader perspective, focusing on physical and emotional health, self-care, and a positive mindset. This article explores the various facets of Jill Zarin's lifestyle, drawing upon her own words and experiences.
Cosmetic Procedures: An Open Dialogue
Jill Zarin has been open about her experiences with cosmetic procedures. In June 2024, she shared an Instagram video detailing a lower facelift and other minor tweaks. "I'm bravely sharing that I had a lower facelift and a couple other minor tweaks," Zarin said, sporting a black bandage. She also mentioned a fat transplant to her hands, explaining, "I had a fat transplant put into my hands because I hated my hands, and the worst part was the lipo coming out of my leg to fill my hands." Zarin noted the recovery wasn't particularly painful, but tiring, likely due to the anesthesia. She also had work done on her double chin, referring to it as the "turkey gobbler" that runs in her family.
In the caption of her post, the Bravolebrity shared insight into her beauty motivations. "After watching myself on The GOAT on Amazon video (by the way I killed it this week!!)," Jill wrote, "I decided I needed a lower face lift. My Dr. Sunday to remove the drainage. Every surgeon has different techniques, medications and bedside manner. All of them are critical to ask about to have a successful outcome."
Zarin's openness stems from her reality TV background. "Being on a reality TV show, obviously it's going to look weird if I come back next season looking 10 years younger, which I do, obviously."
Zarin isn't the only celebrity to document their plastic surgery journey. Other stars, like Brandi Glanville, have been candid about procedures like nose jobs, breast implants, and Botox.

Jill Zarin on Happiness and Self-Care
Jill Zarin emphasizes the importance of emotional and physical well-being as key components of happiness. "My secret to happiness is not being in pain physically or emotionally, and I work hard at that emotionally, making sure that my life is in order," she stated. She also values the health of her family, considering it a blessing that her parents are still alive and well.
Zarin underscores the significance of self-care, highlighting consistent routines like eyebrow, nail, and hair upkeep. "I believe you should upkeep your eyebrows, nails, and hair because all of those things are important. That’s self-care, keeping yourself looking good, not just for your husband, but for yourself." She has incorporated baths into her routine, using them as a time to disconnect and relax, often lighting a manifestation candle.
Diet and Nutrition: A Balanced Approach
When it comes to diet, Jill Zarin focuses on eating real food and making conscious choices. Celebrity nutritionist Keri Glassman weighed in on Zarin's diet, noting that she eats lots of real food but consumed too many fatty meat calories at night. Glassman suggests that eating light during the day to save for the night isn’t the way to go, as it can slow metabolism and lead to overeating the wrong foods.
A typical day for Zarin might include:
- Breakfast: An orange first thing in the morning. "I have an orange the minute I wake up," says the Real Housewives of New York City star. "It feels good, it tastes good, it’s clean. I’d rather eat a big orange than drink orange juice because just juice is really not very satisfying.”
- Lunch: Arugula salad with pine nuts, shaved Parmesan, and tomatoes, with lemon juice instead of oil. “I had an arugula salad with pine nuts, shaved Parmesan and tomatoes,” says Jill. “I squeeze lemon on it instead of using oil. If I know I’m going out for a big dinner, I eat light during the day.”
- Snacks: Carrots, edamame, and fruits like pineapple, watermelon, and cantaloupe, along with the occasional small indulgence like a baby Snickers bar. “I believe in snacking every couple hours,” explains Jill. “I eat carrots, edamame, lots of fruits - pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe. I’m a big fruit person and I love chocolate. I also had a little baby Snickers bar!”
- Dinner: Sampling a variety of dishes, such as lemon chicken, steak pizzaiola, seafood salad, veal parmigiana, sausage and peppers, and spaghetti marinara. Jill sampled an array of dishes at Rao’s in NYC: “We had lemon chicken, steak pizzaiola, seafood salad, veal parmigiana, sausage and peppers and spaghetti marinara - a little of each!”
Zarin emphasizes the importance of not depriving oneself and making good choices when snacking, favoring fruits like melon. She cooks at home frequently, ensuring she knows what she’s putting into her body, with salads, fish, chicken, and cooked vegetables as staples.

Exercise and Physical Activity: Finding Joy in Movement
Jill Zarin prioritizes physical activity, but she focuses on forms of exercise that she enjoys. "Playing tennis is my absolute favorite way to get the day started," she says. "Being outside and hitting the ball is my favorite way to get my body moving.” She also enjoys Pilates, using her reformer at home. She sees a trainer once a week for an hour, but admits it's not enough. They use free weights.
Mother-Daughter Dynamics: Weight Loss Camp
Jill Zarin and her daughter, Ally, have openly discussed their experiences, including Ally's time at a weight loss camp. In a July 8 Instagram Story video, they addressed questions about the experience. One follower asked Ally, "Did you feel shamed by your mum trying to make you lose weight when you were a child?" Jill responded, "I don't think I tried to shame you, do you?" Ally agreed, noting, "That wasn't really the point of the detox center but that is how it came across."
Jill explained that the detox center was about eating better, not just about weight loss. “This wasn’t about the weight. That was just a by-product. It’s about eating better. If you talk to people who do yoga and have a healthy life, they detox once a year. Allyson wanted to erase the blackboard, to detox her body and start over." While Ally doesn't regret the experience, she admitted that they "didn't think through the decision well enough."
Skincare Routine: Sunscreen is Key
Jill Zarin is launching her first skincare product, a sunscreen, emphasizing the importance of protecting skin from sun damage. She notes that in her family, hands tend to age faster than faces, and she advises applying sunscreen to hands regularly. "If there’s one thing you learned today, put sunscreen on your hands because they do age, and you can’t get it back." She also uses a makeup remover in the morning and moisturizes her face and hands.
Motivation and Confidence
Jill Zarin's motivations have evolved over time. While money motivated her earlier in her career, she now values recognition from family and partners. "I always like to be right, so I love it when someone says, I’m right." She believes in the power of confidence and suggests getting professional makeup done for a mood boost. "There is nothing better than having your makeup done and going home and looking in the mirror at yourself for a good pick me up. Confidence is key."
