Facial Fillers and Injectables
Facial fillers are a popular option for restoring volume, smoothing wrinkles, and enhancing facial contours. Victoria Aesthetics, for example, offers lip filler treatments performed by experienced injectors. The goal is to provide natural-looking results that last over time. As noted, facial fillers are temporary and are eventually reabsorbed by the body in about 6-18 months.
One patient at Victoria Aesthetics had lip filler done once in March 2022 and returned a year and a half later. The patient's lips still looked great. The philosophy at Victoria Aesthetics is, "if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it". The patient was still very happy with her lips, as were the practitioners. The real art and expertise come from how the results last over time.
Jawline and lip filler treatments are also available. Victoria Aesthetics used 4 syringes of HA filler total in one patient's jawline (2 per side), and 1 syringe (over 2 sessions) in her lips.

Chin filler is another option for facial balancing. According to Victoria Aesthetics, treating the lips without the chin can make the lips look over-prominent. Also, when you have chin microgenia (a small/recessed chin), it can make other features, such as your nose, look bigger. Victoria Aesthetics used 2 syringes of HA filler to achieve a beautiful result for one patient. Results should last about 1 year. Prior to this procedure, an ultrasound was performed to visualize the submental arteries, which is a blood supply to a large portion of the lower face/neck region.
Neuromodulators, such as Botox, are used to treat wrinkles and areas of concern caused by muscle contraction. The effects typically last about 3-4 months, and factors like exercise, product tolerance, and insufficient dosing may impact longevity. According to Victoria Aesthetics, the biggest & most noticeable risk is an eyelid droop (ptosis). It is rare with proper muscle placement and will resolve on its own. Bruising is also common - avoid blood thinners prior to your appointment to minimize risk. After toxin treatment, it is important to avoid any activity that will increase blood flow to your face for the first 24 hours, including exercise, excessive heat & sun exposure. Also, no lying down for 4 hours.
Tear trough/under eye filler is another popular option. According to Victoria Aesthetics, most fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in the body and hydrates the tissue by attracting water. Sometimes, by placing filler directly in this area, it can attract water to the the bags (fat pads) as well and cause increased swelling. To decrease the chance of further swelling, Victoria Aesthetics may choose to fill medial cheeks first, then layer a soft, less hydrophilic (less water attraction) product in.
