Kandi Burruss, the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, reality TV personality, actress, entrepreneur, and mom, has embarked on a remarkable weight loss journey, shedding 31 pounds since May and achieving a renewed sense of confidence. Weary of being at her heaviest, the star utilized Hydroxycut's weight-loss supplements, got active, and changed her mindset. Her transformation has not only garnered attention from fans but has also inspired many who have followed her career over the years.
“I’m feeling myself right now,” says Kandi Burruss as she stands to show off her missing waist.
The Struggle with Weight Fluctuations
“I’m a foodie. My weight has been going up and down for years,” she says. “I’ve been trying to lose weight, to be honest, for the last year and a half. For years, Kandi has been open about her struggles with weight fluctuations. As a self-proclaimed foodie with a demanding career and multiple businesses, maintaining a consistent weight has been a challenge. Her recent departure from Real Housewives of Atlanta didn’t help. With no cameras following her, she kicked back and ended up gaining even more weight ahead of her recent “Queens of R&B” tour with Xscape (as well as SWV and special guests Mya, Total and 702). Finding herself at a point of frustration, including after using popular weight-loss management methods that just didn’t work.
The Hydroxycut Factor
Kandi's journey took a positive turn when a friend recommended she try Hydroxycut. Hydroxycut has earned its reputation as America's #1 selling weight loss supplement brand by delivering effective results backed by scientific research. As a powerful solution, Hydroxycut empowers individuals like Kandi to achieve their weight loss and wellness goals effectively and safely through a wide range of products designed to help enhance metabolism and energy. Kandi used the key ingredient in Hydroxycut (C. canephora robusta) with diet and exercise and was remunerated. According to the brand, Average weight loss in 60 days with the key ingredient was 10.95 lbs. with a low-calorie diet and 3.7 lbs.
Kandi Burruss: "Well, I had tried a few different trendy weight loss products, and they didn't work for me. Basically, it wasn't working. I wasn't losing. Nothing was changing. Matter of fact, I was getting bigger gradually. And one of the things, I don't know if you remember, but a couple of years ago, Kenya Moore did a Hydroxycut challenge. And she looked so good after she did it, she had lost a lot of weight, and so my team had came to me and they mentioned Hydroxycut to me. So I was already kind of open to it. I was like, okay, that might be great, because I already saw the results and how she looked. I just was like whatever is gonna work, because everything else is not working for me."

A Transformative 17-Week Period
During a 17-week period, Kandi achieved stunning results through the key ingredient in Hydroxycut® (C. Over the past few months, Kandi has experienced a transformative journey, shedding pounds and feeling more confident than ever. As a busy entrepreneur and mother, she sought a solution that would fit seamlessly into her lifestyle while helping her achieve her healthy lifestyle goals. "Partnering with Hydroxycut has been a game-changer for me," says Burruss. "I've seen incredible results in my weight loss, and I feel better and more confident than ever. canephora robusta) with diet and exercise and was remunerated. She says, “I’ve lost 31 pounds since May,” she says at the time of our conversation - in October. The changes have been so significant that her husband thought she was wearing a fat suit while guest-starring in the new season of the hit Hulu series Reasonable Doubt. “If you look at the episodes now? I knew I was a little heavier, but I didn’t realize how much heavier!
The Mental Shift
In addition to Hydroxycut working, a changed mindset also helped her slim down. “I was just super motivated,” she says. “I was like, I’m not going to cheat. I’m going to stick to taking [Hydroxycut] twice a day. I’m going to change my eating habits. Doing so in preparation for and during her tour helped her curb poor eating habits, which are common with carb-heavy craft food tables always available backstage.Kandi Burruss: "I feel like I totally changed a lot of things. I totally changed my eating habits. I have way more energy now, because Hydroxycut naturally just gives you more energy to feel like you can conquer the world. Basically, you just feel like I'm ready to go. So I love it for multiple reasons. I was highly motivated to get myself together in May, because that's when I started the, what I always call the Hydroxycut challenge. My birthday was in May. I was the biggest that I had ever been, you know, other than when I was pregnant, let's say that. And I had a tour with my group Xscape. Speaking of Xscape, we had a tour this summer with SWV. We did the Queens of R & B tour. So I knew I wanted to slim down, for the tour. But at the same time, after leaving Housewives at the top of the year, I was like, 'okay, I want to better myself,' but realistically, I gained even more weight because I'm not really filming. So I felt more comfortable to just eat whatever. I was kind of just doing the most. But I wanted to be a better me. After leaving the show, I didn't want to look like I fell off."
The "Stuffed" Revelation
“I was tired of being thick. I literally saw somebody post something negative about our outfits. They were like, ‘Why do they always look stuffed?’ I said, ‘Oh no! These days, Burruss, who snacks on almonds in between meals, avoids big breakfasts, replaced sodas and lemonade with water and Hydroxycut’s Ultra Shred drink sticks, and only does meats and veggies, is far from “stuffed.”
Back to Her Season 2 Weight
She’s back in the 130-pound range for the first time since the very first season she appeared on Real Housewives of Atlanta, which was Season 2 in 2009. “I was on there for 15 years, ya’ll,” she says with a hearty laugh. “If you can just imagine for me, this has been a life-changing experience. I never knew I needed it as much as I did until I did it. I think, as women, we kind of get settled in the fact that, ‘Oh, I’m getting older.
Navigating Caloric Temptations
Kandi Burruss has plenty of caloric temptation around her. The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member has a knack for preparing delicious homemade fare (ask her about her "on-point" sweet-potato pies). And, she happens to own a few local restaurants that churn out everything from steak dinners to deep-fried deviled eggs. But in the last couple of months, the singer has tried to keep her diet clean.

Kandi Burruss: "I can tell you one thing, the other day, we were trying to add new items on the menu. And normally I'm there for the taste testing, but this time Todd had to do it by himself. I was like, you are not going to have me sitting up there eating all that fried chicken, french toast, all this stuff. Because that's going to totally take me out of my zone. So unfortunately, I couldn't participate in our update of our menu, but it's little things like that. It was really hard being on the road, to be honest with you. For a lot of people who don't know what goes on behind the scenes, when you're artists, we go from city to city on these tour busses, but in every city we go they have catering set up in the venues. They have it in your room, they have it in the main room, and then they're making you multiple meals a day. They have a table full of desserts, all different types. They have every cookie that you ever dreamed of or wanted. You know they have all the sodas. They have all the fruit drinks. They have everything that is not good for a diet. So I had to make a promise to myself that I wasn't going to allow that to make me fall off. Whereas normally I would gain weight on tour, but I was like, Yeah, nah, I'm not doing that this time. I'm sticking to the salad table. I'm sticking to just the protein and vegetable or whatever. You know, I really was strict about it."
Maintaining Momentum
She’s still figuring out her plans for the holiday season, which are often filled with grand spreads, sweets, and plenty of opportunities for foodie regret once January comes around. But Burruss is determined to maintain all of her hard work well into 2025 and beyond. “I’m still using Hydroxycut until I figure out my flow of how to maintain my size,” she says.
Kandi Burruss: "I actually asked them, and I checked in with them to see how long can I continue Hydroxycut? Is it okay to keep using the product after a certain amount of time? And they said it was fine. Because realistically, I really love the ultra shred packs. I like the way they taste, and naturally, they give me energy, you know. So for now, I'm going to stick with that. Because, listen, I lost all that weight through the summertime and got to my end goal at mid to late September. This body cannot be wasted on the winter.
Burruss's Perspective on Weight Loss
Since entering the Bravo-verse 2009, The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum has been quite open about her body image and the social pressures she’s faced during her weight loss journey. Although Kandi maintains that weight loss should be done for one’s self rather than somebody else, she admits her recent health kick was sparked by online comments.
The Ozempic Experiment
Burruss says Ozempic didn’t work for her. “I saw so many people who were trying it and losing weight. So I was like, ‘Okay, I’m going to try this.’ And I didn’t lose any weight,” she told E! News. “My doctor was like, ‘I don’t know what the problem is, I’m not seeing this in other people’. It didn’t curb my appetite. I know some people are like, ‘Oh, I can’t eat.’ Not me! I was eating appetizers, a regular meal and dessert, okay?

Kandi Burruss reveals the moment she decided to lose weight Kandi said she decided to slim down after her husband, Todd Tucker, posted a video of her birthday festivities. While most of the comments were positive and celebratory, the ATL mom said some messages were all about her weight gain.
“That was it for me,” she said on the podcast. “Something about turning 48, I was like, ‘I definitely want to live my best life, but I want to be one of those chicks that, always, you can never tell my age by the way I look.”
Burruss's Additional Health and Beauty Tips
Burruss loves the Renoj Exercise Workout Bands. “These will have you sweating, OK?” she told E! News. “You don’t always need large weights to workout that will help tone and tighten your muscles. These come in a nice little bag and there are bands with different intensities. There’s nothing like a good resistance band to get toned and to get that sweat going. These seem simple, but they are not easy. They are the perfect workout accessory because they’re small and light. You can keep them at home. You can travel with them.
Burruss swears by sleep for health and beauty. “The best self-care is sleep!” she told New Beauty. “I’m always on the go, but if I can get some sleep after a performance, I will. I try not to go out after shows unless something really great is going on… I have three beauty treatments that I love: Eyelash extensions-I like a natural lash look; a facial at Pretty Faces; and last but not least, getting my nails done by my nail tech, Nita aka ‘ImNails.’ therapist.
