This hot keto dip is more than just cheesy and delicious-it’s also incredibly easy to throw together. With minimal prep and only a handful of ingredients, this easy keto dip is the perfect last-minute solution for any party or gathering.

Ingredients

Just gather 6 basic ingredients and you’re halfway to making a bacon ranch crack dip in just 5 minutes! This crack dip recipe is creamy, cheddar cheesy, and loaded flavor from with bacon, ranch seasoning, and green onions. But that’s ok, because this keto bacon ranch dip is made with just a few simple, real food ingredients.

Here's what you'll need:

  • Cream cheese - Softened. I let it sit on the counter for about 30 minutes. Room-temp cream cheese: For an even smoother mixture, it helps that your cream cheese comes at room temperature before making the dip.
  • Sour cream - Use either regular or light sour cream. Or swap it for plain Greek yogurt if you’d like. Sour cream: Cheaper, easier to find, and less processed than high-quality mayonnaise.
  • Dry ranch seasoning mix - My favorite is the Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning mix. NOT the ranch dip mix. Generally, ranch seasoning is ok to eat on keto because it is fairly low carb. For that reason, we used pre-made ranch seasoning mix for this recipe. It saves time and you don’t need to measure!
  • Shredded cheddar cheese - Freshly shredded sharp cheddar cheese is the best in the dip. Grated Cheddar Cheese - I recommend buying a block of real cheddar cheese and shredding your own.
  • Bacon crumbles - I used a box of microwavable bacon and crumbled it. Bacon: Cooked and crumbled; the easiest way to cook bacon is in the oven, but stovetop bacon works too. Even store-bought bacon bits can do the job, but check the ingredient list to ensure all ingredients are keto-friendly, if that’s important to you. Crispy bacon: Grab pre-cooked bacon from the store if you’re short on time. Budget-friendly: Great way to use up leftover bacon.
  • Green onions - sliced thin. Green onions: Although optional, chopped green onions are great as garnish.

Follow these simple directions, and you can’t go wrong!

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, and ranch seasoning mix. Stir until well combined and smooth. Use and electric mixer to cream together the softened cream cheese, sour cream and mayonnaise. Mix the cream cheese and sour cream in a large mixing bowl. Stir by hand or use a hand mixer. Make Ahead and Storage Instructions

Although you can serve it right away, it’s perfect to make ahead a day ahead too. A crack dip can be made a day or two ahead, but it’s best enjoyed fresh or within the first 24 hours. I don’t recommend freezing this dip, as the ingredients tend to separate and it won’t taste as good. When ready to eat, warm it in the oven at 350 F. One of the fun benefits of this crack dip recipe is that it can be enjoyed cold or warm. Double the recipe and chill the first batch, then pop the other in the oven for a few minutes before serving.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days. Store: Crack dip is best enjoyed fresh or within the first 24 hours.

Variations

This family-friendly dip is delicious as written in the recipe card below, but you can switch things up to give a different flavor profile.

  • Cheese substitutes: Use smoked cheddar cheese for a smoky flavor, or combine a strong-flavored cheese like sharp cheddar cheese and a milder one like mozzarella.
  • Protein-packed dip: Make a keto dip with sausage by browning the sausage before mixing it in. Or add cooked shredded chicken for a keto crack chicken dip.
  • Flavor boosters: Run out of green onions? Try it with chopped chives or a little bit of leek.
  • My crack dip recipe is similar to a keto million-dollar dip, but better because it’s completely nut-free. In its original form, this delicious dip recipe is already keto, carnivore keto, low oxalate, and GAPS compliant. If you are on strict GAPS, ensure your bacon is nitrate-free.
