By making your own, you have complete control over the ingredients, ensuring that it aligns perfectly with your dietary needs and preferences. You can avoid soybean oils, hidden sugars, and starches commonly found in store-bought versions. Plus, the taste is simply unmatched! Fresh chunks of blue cheese: bottled dressing just does not compare to your own dressing. If you’re a fan of blue cheese, making homemade salad dressing allows you to add more or less. The Star Ingredient: Blue Cheese
Blue cheese has a tangy flavor that’s a little bit salty and really creamy. Since so much of the flavor in this dressing comes from the cheese itself, you’ll get the best results if you splurge on a good quality blue cheese. Any type of blue cheese may be used here. Use your favorite, such as Gorgonzola or Roquefort, and it’ll be delicious in this dressing. Gorgonzola is a great choice for making this keto blue cheese salad dressing recipe. Serving Suggestions
Homemade keto blue cheese dressing goes with everything from salads, to wings, & fresh vegetables. I can’t think of many things that this keto blue cheese dressing recipe won’t pair well with. Here are just a few ideas:
- Drizzle this naturally low carb and keto, thick and creamy dressing over iceberg lettuce or other salad greens. To Make an Iceberg Wedge Salad: to make the classic steakhouse favorite you can see in my photos just take 1/4 of a head of iceberg lettuce (washed and dried), drizzle with this dressing, and then top with tomatoes, red onions, and bacon.
- Serve as a dip for fresh vegetables or Buffalo chicken wings or atop cold roast beef. And you can't go wrong serving this with my Keto Buffalo Chicken. I have been known to dip steak in it, and it is fabulous with these Keto Cauliflower Wings.
- You can even use it as a keto blue cheese sauce, but I’d use it cold instead of heated up.
- Stir a few tablespoons into chicken salad for a unique, tangy flavor.
- I also love putting out a variety of salad dressings making my own salad bar.
Storing Your Homemade Dressing
Put the blue cheese dressing in the refrigerator in a glass container with a lid. You could also use plastic too, but I prefer glass because it doesn’t hold in odors as plastic does. Store your leftover keto blue cheese dressing in an airtight container for 5-7 days. The homemade dressing will last 5-7 days if it’s kept in the cold refrigerator.

How to Tell if It Has Spoiled
When blue cheese dressing has started to spoil, it will have a very strong pungent flavor that is unappealing. The color of the dressing may look strange too. Another strong indicator is that mold will begin to develop on the top of the dressing, sides of the container, and even on the lid. If you ever notice anything like this, then don’t eat it.
A Brief History of Blue Cheese (Possibly)
Just for fun, I thought it would be interesting to look up where blue cheese was invented. I’m not sure if it’s accurate or not, but supposedly there was a cheesemaker that had a little too much to drink. He had a cave that was moist and for cheese. While he had been drinking, he was eating a loaf of bread and forgot it behind when he left. Shockingly, when he returned, the bread had molded, and the cheese then turned into blue cheese.
