Are you seeking meaningful, lasting action to improve your health and wellness? Change is hard. With Wellness for Life and the Y, you’re not doing it alone. Wellness for Life is all about working with your body and mind, not against it.

What is Wellness for Life?

Wellness for Life is a 16-week program designed for adults seeking to create a lifestyle of health. It is a discussion group that uses a Whole Person Health approach to lifestyle change that considers your unique needs and individual goals. Each class, led by a certified Behavior Change Coach, will include discussion, reflection, individual goal setting, and physical activity planning.

The YMCA Approach: Smart, Effective, and Sustainable

The Y’s approach is smart, effective, and sustainable. No gimmicks, restrictive approaches, or quick fixes - just encouragement, a supportive community, and the tools you need to reach your goals. The program provides helpful strategies to incorporate nutrition and physical activity into your lifestyle while addressing motivation, obstacles, and pitfalls that make managing weight such a challenge.

Program Components

  • Weekly Group Sessions: For 16 weeks, your coach will lead a one-hour group session that covers common obstacles of successful, sustained weight-management fitness planning, and nutrition information.
  • Personalized Goal Setting: You'll get the tools and support you need to reach your health and wellness goals.
  • Supportive Community: You’ll be joined by a small group of others just like you, who will support and motivate you to reach your goals, encourage you through challenges, and celebrate successes along the way! Groups provide accountability and support. Build awareness about what works for you while in a supportive community.

Wellness for Life for GLP-1 Users

The YMCA Wellness for Life Program has long supported adults who are seeking to make lasting lifestyle changes at any stage of their wellness journey! This Wellness for Life for GLP-1 Users Program has been specially designed to help those who are taking GLP-1s create Lifestyle Changes to support their long-term health and wellness journeys. This program brings people together to create support and accountability to meet their lifestyle change goals. There will not be any clinical or pharmaceutical guidance provided as part of this program.

According to the British Medical Journal, the number of patients in the US prescribed glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1s)* like Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound for weight loss has risen from around 21,000 in 2019 to over 174,000 in 2023-a rise of more than 700%. While GLP-1s may offer pharmaceutical support for those seeking weight loss, the FDA approval indicates that these medications should always be prescribed in conjunction with a lower-calorie diet and increased physical activity (components of lifestyle change!), which is often the most challenging part of maintaining weight loss. While we know lifestyle change is a key long-term success indicator for GLP-1 users, supportive programming can be difficult to find.

Wellness for Life is a 16-week program where participants meet for 60 minutes weekly.

  • Starts July 14, 2025 | Mondays, 7:00-8:00 pm | Virtual
  • Starts August 4, 2025 | Mondays, 10:00-11:30 am | Virtual | GLP-1 Users (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound, etc.)
  • Starts September 23, 2025 | Tuesdays, 12:00-1:00 pm | Virtual
  • Starts November 3, 2025 | Mondays, 7:00-8:00 pm | Virtual

Fees and Financial Assistance

  • Y members: $240
  • Community members: $365

The program fee includes a non-refundable $50 registration fee. Financial assistance and payment plans are available! For Y members, your scholarship is already attached to your Y account and available upon registration. For community members, please drop by your local Y or call us at (206) 432-8904 to learn more. Reimbursement for the Y's Wellness for Life program may be possible through your Health Savings account or Flexible Spending Account.
