Weight Loss Stacks: A Comprehensive Guide

Achieving effective weight loss involves strategic planning and informed choices. Weight loss supplements work best when combined strategically. This article provides a comprehensive overview of weight loss stacks, exploring their benefits, key ingredients, and how to use them safely and effectively.

Understanding Supplement Stacking

If you’re new to taking supplements, a term you may have heard advanced supplement users talk about is stacking supplements. A supplement stack is a combination of two or more products, the goal of taking a supplement stack is to strategically combine products to help you towards a specific goal. Stacking supplements involves combining two or more products to strategically enhance their effects and achieve specific health and fitness goals. The benefit of stacking supplements is that you may be able to unlock ingredient synergies between products. A synergistic effect occurs when the combined effects of two or more ingredients is greater than what their effects would be taken on their own. By understanding the purpose of each supplement, checking for potential interactions, and following recommended dosages, you can effectively stack supplements to support your health and fitness goals.

Key Considerations Before Stacking

Before embarking on any supplement regimen, it's essential to prioritize safety and understand the individual components of your stack. Here are some key considerations:

  1. Understand the Purpose of Each Supplement: Before stacking supplements, it's important to understand the individual purpose of each supplement.
  2. Start with a Smaller Stack: If you’re new to stacking supplements, you’re better off starting with a smaller number of products and gradually adding on more if needed.
  3. Check for Potential Interactions: Certain supplements can interact with each other or with medications.
  4. Follow Recommended Dosages: A common mistake many people make is thinking “more is better”.
  5. Liver Health: Before starting any fat-burning regimen, your liver health must be prioritized.

The Science Behind Weight Loss Stacks

Effective fat loss programs rely on caloric deficits, the overall goal is to burn more calories than you consume. Fat-burning stacks are designed to help ramp up your metabolism. An example of this is the 2-in-1 super ingredient NO3-C Citrulline Nitrate that we use in many of our formulas. Citrulline can increase plasma arginine levels which leads to increased nitric oxide levels while Nitrate can be broken down to nitric oxide. Nitric oxide supports increased vasodilation which can help you achieve major muscle pumps. The strategic stacking of supplements can be beneficial for allowing certain ingredients to work together across different pathways to maximize your goals.

Core Components of Effective Weight Loss Stacks

Several ingredients are commonly included in weight loss stacks due to their potential to support fat burning, boost metabolism, and control appetite.

Beyond Supplements: Holistic Approach to Weight Loss

While supplements can be a valuable tool, sustainable weight loss requires a holistic approach.

Diet and Nutrition

There is no "ideal" ratio of macronutrients for body recomposition. Again, calories are the primary regulators of body weight. If there's anything we can gather from clinical studies, it's that most active gym-goers fare best on a balanced diet with a generous amount of protein (8). Carbohydrates are protein-sparing molecules, and they augment the muscle-building effects of a high-protein diet (9). Let's say you need to consume about 2,000 calories per day to facilitate fat loss; your macros for body recomposition will be: 150-175 g carbohydrate/150-175 g protein/65-80 g fat. Now, what about intermittent carb refeed days? On these days, you'll want to increase your carbohydrate and total calorie intake to keep your metabolism happy and encourage muscle growth. You will have two non-consecutive days every week where you follow the carb-refeed macro and calorie goals. It's best to have your carb refeed days on the same days as your two toughest workouts of the week (e.g. leg day and back day). Ultimately, you know your schedule better than anyone. The way you distribute your macros out over the course of a day or how often you eat is not as critical as bodybuilding dogma may have you believe. The moral of the story is that going 4 to 5 hours without a meal or snack doesn't mean you're entering "catabolic mode"; as long as you hit your carb, fat, protein, and calorie goals with 3 to 6 meals/snacks throughout the day, you'll be just fine. Try and consume at least three meals spread throughout the day, preferably eating more carbs in your pre-workout and post-workout meals. Your protein and fat intake should be relatively constant at each meal. Extreme diets and overly restrictive protocols are not prudent for body recomposition.

Exercise and Training

The body recomposition training protocol is two phases. You will lift weights five times per week (with an extra day for core and calves). HIIT: Stands for "high-intensity interval training" cardio. Start by performing LISS cardio until you burn 300 calories-which shouldn't take much longer than 30 minutes-on the designated days AFTER your weight-training workout. To reiterate from earlier, you don't want to do tons of cardio for body recomposition.
