UCHealth Weight Loss Program: A Comprehensive Guide to Sustainable Wellness

If you struggle with your weight, know that you are not alone. The UCHealth Weight Loss Center understands that the battle to reach and maintain a healthy weight is highly personal, and that one-size-fits-all diet programs are not the answer. Recognizing obesity as a chronic condition, their specialized team customizes treatment plans for each individual, integrating metabolic and bariatric surgery options as well as medical weight management programs.

Understanding the Complexity of Weight Loss

Weight loss is complicated; it can be affected by stress, sleep quality, and various other factors. Obesity is a lifelong chronic disease with contributing factors like genetics, environmental conditions, and psychological issues. It is also associated with hypertension, diabetes mellitus, stroke, obstructive sleep apnea, and many cancers.

The UCHealth Approach: Personalized Care Supported by Research

As an academic-based organization, research plays a vital role in all of the programs, services, and activities offered. The CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center was founded by two of Colorado’s most visionary organizations: the Anschutz Foundation and the University of Colorado. Bringing together a state-of-the-art facility with top researchers and scientists, their goal is to create the nation’s go-to research facility for wellness and integrated programs providing whole-person support. Their scientific, evidence-based wellness strategies extend well beyond the walls of the Center to reach communities, transforming lives every step of the way. When life is transformed, you see how wellness changes everything.

The multi-disciplinary weight loss and wellness clinic in the Anschutz Health and Wellness Center is focused on helping you become and stay well. The clinic is able to serve you in-person or via virtual health services.

Getting Started: The Non-Surgical Weight Loss Program

The first step is to attend a FREE Non-Surgical Weight Loss Program Informational Seminar. When you choose to enroll in the non-surgical weight loss program, first you will be scheduled for an initial assessment, during which the medical health history will be reviewed and some basic tests and screenings performed, including body composition, resting metabolic rate, comprehensive blood work, and EKG.

Surgical Weight Loss Options

Weight loss surgery is considered the most effective treatment for severe obesity and metabolic disease resolution. Surgery is a powerful tool but only one part of the process. Long-term sustainable weight loss requires commitment to lifestyle changes. The team assesses every patient individually to develop weight loss plans with regular check-ins to monitor progress.

Key Components of the Program

The multidisciplinary approach ensures that patients receive comprehensive care from experts in surgery, nutrition, metabolic conditions, pharmacotherapy, lifestyle interventions, fitness, and obesity medicine.
