The story began 15 years ago with Tyler Toney, Garrett Hilbert, Cody Jones, and twins Coby and Cory Cotton, who were simply having fun performing trick shots in their backyard. While some members initially took day jobs, they dedicated their Saturdays to filming for their channel. Tyler Toney, who was working at a landscaping company, faced a turning point when his boss demanded his presence at work on Saturdays. This prompted Toney to leave his job in April 2012 and, within a few months, the rest of the group followed suit, choosing to focus on Dude Perfect as their full-time career. Despite earning significantly less than their previous salaries, they were drawn to the fun and freedom of creating content together.
Staying True to Family Values
From the beginning, Dude Perfect made a conscious decision to remain family-friendly. They turned down sponsorships from alcoholic brands like Budweiser, opting to align with brands that reflected their values. This commitment attracted companies like Nerf, leading to a successful product line in 2016. Their family-friendly ethos has also resonated with their audience, with many families expressing gratitude for content they can enjoy together. The group credits their Christian values as the guiding force in their decision to stay family-friendly. Since the founding of Dude Perfect, Sundays have always been reserved for Church and family time. They’ve taken their dedication to younger audiences one step further by working with the Make-A-Wish foundation, even doing a video with the organization in 2016.
Expanding the Dude Perfect Universe
Building on their YouTube success, Dude Perfect has expanded into various ventures, including a line of toys and games in Walmart, a streaming platform, live tours, and even a stake in Premier League team Burnley FC. Dude Perfect World: A Theme Park Dream
The group unveiled plans for a $100 million theme park and headquarters, Dude Perfect World. The idea is to let attendees experience a Dude Perfect video in real life: throwing a baseball through a moving car, 100 pin bowling, rage rooms, mini-golf and a 300 foot basketball shot from the top of the Dude Perfect tower.
Overcoming Challenges: Marriage and Faith
Behind the scenes, Tyler Toney and his wife Bethany faced personal challenges as Dude Perfect's success grew. The demands of the business led to feelings of jealousy, bitterness, and heartbreak within their marriage. Bethany struggled with infertility and felt neglected as Tyler prioritized Dude Perfect opportunities. It was during the COVID-19 pandemic that the couple reached a boiling point.
However, after this particularly difficult season, Bethany said her husband approached her saying “I don’t think I’ve really ever had a relationship with Jesus Christ.”
Tyler's renewed faith and commitment to putting Christ first transformed their marriage. He began hosting a men's bible study and saw Dude Perfect as a platform for Gospel ministry. With a renewed marriage and mission, Toney said moving forward the group wants to continue to spiritually influence the massive audience.
A Sports Funhouse
Dude Perfect’s new HQ in Frisco, Texas is a sports funhouse. The 80,000-square-foot facility also features a gym, a putting simulator, a rock climbing wall and a pickleball court. Then there’s the hidden candy room, the secret slide, and the water fountain that dispenses only Body Armor energy drink. Believe it or not, actual work gets done here too. The space is tricked out with an infinity wall, gaming studio, editing bays and Samsung televisions.

Dude Perfect's Vision for the Future
Dude Perfect is committed to providing family-friendly content on their own streaming platform, even bringing in other family friendly creators to the platform, announcing their first edition last month with Zach King. The group plans to bring in other family friendly creators to the platform.
Dude Perfect as CEO
Together with Highmount, Dude perfect embarked on a months-long search for its first-ever CEO. In October, they named former NBA executive Andrew Yaffe to the role. Since then, they’ve hired a Fanatics veteran as CFO and a chief product officer from cheerleading apparel maker Varsity Spirit - and grown their team to 30 employees with plans to be north of 50 by the end of the year as they focus on building out their retail business and other in-person touch-points for their fans.
