In today's fast-paced world, stress has become an all-too-common companion. Touch of Serenity massage offers a sanctuary, a place to reconnect with your body and mind, and experience the profound benefits of therapeutic touch. Massage therapy is one of the oldest and most effective forms of alternative healing. With recorded origins of massage therapy dating as far back as 3000BC in the ancient cultures of Egypt and China, massage therapy has been used to heal the body's ailments naturally and holistically. Whether you're seeking relief from muscle tension, recovering from a sports injury, or simply yearning for a moment of peace, Touch of Serenity provides a range of massage modalities tailored to your specific needs.
The Essence of Touch of Serenity
At Touch of Serenity, the philosophy is to listen to both what the client says and what the body “says” during each session to tailor the massage for that specific visit. The job of the therapist is not as healer rather to facilitate the body to heal itself. All sessions involve a brief but thorough discussion to ensure that clients receive a customized treatment based on individual health needs and conditions. Once the discussion is completed you will be given privacy to disrobe to the level of your comfort. Breasts and genitals always remain covered during the session. Confidential sessions are held in a private, sanitary, safe, and aesthetic therapeutic setting to facilitate optimum results.
Core Massage Modalities
Touch of Serenity offers a diverse array of massage techniques, each designed to address specific needs and preferences.
Swedish Massage: The Foundation of Relaxation
A traditional Swedish massage fully relaxes the body and mind while lifting the spirit. Perfect for relieving muscle tension and life’s daily stresses. This technique employs long, flowing strokes, kneading, and circular movements to ease muscle tension, improve circulation, and promote overall relaxation.
Deep Tissue Massage: Releasing Chronic Tension
Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Swedish massage, but the intention is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. This approach targets deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to release chronic muscle pain and stiffness.

Sports Massage: Enhancing Athletic Performance
Sports massage is geared toward athletes of all kinds and levels…from the trained professional to the recreational athlete. Whether you are in training, just trying to stay in shape, or enjoy being active, athletes at any level use the same muscles. Massage can help boost your performance, recover faster, and prevent injury. It is tailored to the needs of athletes, focusing on preventing injuries, improving performance, and speeding up recovery.
Specialized Touch of Serenity Treatments
Beyond the core modalities, Touch of Serenity offers specialized treatments designed to address specific populations and conditions.
Touch of Recovery: A Personalized Healing Experience
A customized session employing multiple massage and bodywork modalities and tools, using slower, intentional concentration to target specific issues. This treatment complements the body’s own ability to heal. From targeted issues like TMJD, headaches, back and shoulder pain to systemic issues like fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis, massage has been proven to reduce pain and promote healing.
The Feminine Touch: Honoring Women's Health
Honoring and serving women no matter the stage of life. Touch of Serenity addresses the full spectrum of women’s issues including the following:
- Pregnancy/Prenatal Massage: Prenatal massage is important throughout the entire pregnancy for care of the expectant mom and baby. Our therapists are certified in prenatal massage.
- Induction Massage: Toward the end of your pregnancy, typically around 40 weeks, Touch of Serenity offers an Induction Massage that, while still soothing, focuses on certain acupressure points that may safely speed up and ease labor and delivery.
- Postpartum Massage: Postpartum massage can be as important and beneficial as massage during pregnancy. Postpartum bodywork is an effective and holistic approach for the many adjustments to motherhood.
- Peri-menopausal symptoms massage and massage combined with aromatherapy has been proven to be effective in reducing menopausal symptoms.
Massage for Musicians: Harmonizing Body and Instrument
From those just learning an instrument to the student to the professional musician, massage can help alleviate the physical stress that can arise from practicing, rehearsing and performing. Playing most instruments involves sitting or standing in one position for long periods of time. This, combined with the repetitive motion of bowing, strumming, drumming, fretwork, keyboarding, or conducting, can limit ability and time spent playing. Typical issues may involve back, shoulder, neck, forearm, hand, hip or jaw discomfort. Massage therapy can help alleviate pain, prevent injuries, and help musicians ensure peak performance. Touch of Serenity has served as the massage therapist for the Eastern Music Festival.

Is not just for lovers - mothers and daughters and good friends can enjoy a great massage together.
Benefits Beyond Relaxation
Massage therapy has many wonderful benefits including (but not limited to) improved circulation, increased range of motion, stimulation of the lymphatic system, an overall sense of improved well-being and relaxation, a reduction in anxiety and depression. The list goes on! One of the most impactful benefits of massage therapy, however, is relief from pain that may be caused by muscular tension.
Pain Relief: Addressing the Root Cause
Have you ever had one of those super annoying and nagging tension headaches at the base of your skull that radiates down your neck and into your shoulder? You take over-the-counter pain meds (maybe even prescription meds) in hopes to find relief. The medication may help for a period of time but then the pain returns, and you find yourself in need of another dose. You end up repeating this never ending cycle for days… and possibly even months (or years!)

When you experience pain as a result of a particularly tight muscle group or area and you take over the counter or prescription painkillers, your entire body including your organs, are impacted. Painkillers work by inhibiting your brain's perception of the pain. You have merely temporarily dulled the intensity of the sensation of the pain. Your pain will return once the painkillers have worked their way out of your system. The cycle of only masking your pain with over the counter and prescription painkillers continues. Between the depressant effects on the central nervous system and the effects on the detoxifying organs such as the liver and kidneys, long term use of pain killers wreak havoc on the body.
There are over 600 muscles in the body. Certain massage modalities such as deep tissue massage, myofascial release, or trigger point therapy identify and then release the specific muscles which may be the actual source of your pain. Massage therapy can address the root cause of your pain because of its ability to target the precise muscles that may be contributing to your pain. Still using the example of tension headaches, if the muscles of your shoulders and neck are chronically tight, they are going to radiate that sensation of pain upwards to the base of your skull which results in that pesky and relentless tension headache. Receiving a massage that successfully returns your muscles to a relaxed state is one of the most effective and holistic ways to address your pain.
Preventative Wellness
Receiving consistent massage therapy makes for an excellent preventative and maintenance wellness routine. Much like eating healthy or working out, massage is best if it’s received on a regular and consistent basis. For most people, receiving a massage at least once a month makes significant improvements in their pain reduction, mental health, and overall quality of life. Make sure you take the time to schedule your next massage appointment while you're thinking about it.
Corporate Wellness: On-Site Massage Therapy
Perhaps your employees are overly stressed due to high work demands. In today’s active corporate society, stress is at an all time high. What does this cost your company? A growing number of businesses are including on-site massage therapy as a timely and revolutionary way of dealing with corporate stress.
On-site massage is a convenient, safe form of massage performed by a licensed massage therapist in a specialized, ergonomically correct chair or massage table. After a brief interview to identify any medical contraindications, employees may receive anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes of massage therapy depending on the program selected.
Touch of Serenity makes it easy! All you provide are the people to be massaged and the space; we do the rest. You pay only for the time we massage, not for travel time, not for set up time, and not for clean up. If you like, we can provide sign-up sheets in advance to help manage the on-site time efficiently so that people aren’t waiting around to be massaged.
