Wine and Lemon Water

Braxton enjoys a small amount of wine in the evening and plenty of lemon water in the daytime. “This is old school, but what works for me is I take a half a glass of wine every night,” she told Healthy Living Magazine. “It heals everything. Some people take Robitussin pills every night. I take a half a glass of wine, a nightcap, every night. Not a lot: just a little bit. It keeps my blood thin. It keeps my motion going. It keeps me clear-headed. I just think it’s nature’s tonic. But also, what keeps me going in the morning is hot water, lemon, and a sprig or two of mint in there. I have two cups of that almost every day, at least four days a week.

Daily Exercise Routine

Braxton’s exercise routine includes Billy Blanks workouts and Peloton Tread. “I work out every day, every single day, seven days a week,” she told Healthy Living Magazine. “If I do cardio, I work on my treadmill. I walk 40 minutes on my treadmill every single day. I’m very lucky, because as a singer, we always use our force. It’s like nature’s sit-ups for singers, but I work out every day… If you ever see me and I look a little bit fluffy, it’s because I’m on steroids. They’re for my illness. I am prone to having steroids a couple times a year.

Skincare Routine

After one glance at Toni Braxton's flawless complexion, it should come as no surprise that her skincare lineup includes a secret tool, too. Thing is the secret to the 53-year-old’s flawless skin isn't actually designed for skincare but a very different region. The go-to product? A vibrator. Yup. The singer uses Trojan’s Power Wand Vibrator all over her face in combination with a tried, true, and simple routine that keeps her skin looking and feeling good.

Cleanser

"I'm a simple, basic girl," Toni said in video she filmed for Vogue detailing her skin and makeup routines. I like to go to Walgreens or CVS to wash my face and I found this great product that I love, and, of course, it's Aveeno. It really works and it's great for me."In the video, she applies a small amount of Aveeno's Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser to her fingertips and rubs it in using small circular motions around her entire face. Once she's rinsed it off, she doesn't rub her face with a towel, which can put the skin's elastin at risk, as Women's Health has previously reported, but pats her face dry instead. Her cleanser costs less than $10.Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser

Moisturizer

Toni's daily routine also includes moisturizer made by Lancer Skincare. She heats up the cream in her hands and then applies it to her face and her neck because she says it "soothes all those lines" and allows her makeup to "go on much smoother," she adds in the video. And clearly, the stuff works.Next, she follows that up with another Lancer product: the Legacy Eye Treatment Duo. She swipes the applicator underneath both eyes to keep the sensitive skin in that area plump and hydrated.

Facial Massage

The moment you've been waiting for. What you call a vibrator Toni calls a "face tingler," in the video. "It tingles the muscles in my face to get them activated and working." You might laugh considering her "tingler" of choice, but there's a whole lotta truth to what she's saying. “Facial massage reduces excess fluid, relieves tension, and boosts circulation,” Sadie Adams, a facialist, previously told Women's Health. It can even help keep your hormones in check and your acne at bay.Toni mostly concentrates the vibrator at her under-eye area since that's the part of the face she says in the video, "tells your age." Sometimes, she'll even put the vibrator in the freezer for a colder sensation that will help to reduce swelling and puffiness.

CBD Products

Because she has lupus, a chronic auto-immune disease that attacks healthy tissue, causes inflammation, and rashes, Toni is a fan of CBD products. "I didn’t know anything about CBD products," Toni told Health. "I just thought I’d try this product, and then from there, I learned about it and started educating myself, and I love it. I'm on so many medications right now for lupus, so it's nice to have something that helps that isn't another medication."CBD products make it possible for the singer to keep her skin clear and allows her a chance to keep performing since lupus also affects her joints and muscles. She calls CBD a godsend. Toni's favorites include Uncle Bud's Topical Pain Relief Oil and Uncle Bud's Hemp Body Lotion Moisturizer. She's also a big fan of Uncle Bud's rose gold hemp face mask which she shared on Instagram. "I think it really helps contribute to a well-rounded wellness routine," she told the mag. Braxton uses CBD to manage pain related to her lupus. “I’ve always heard that it had healing properties. But I just heard it, I never experienced it,” she told InStyle. “I was always nervous about it, because I had tried ‘herbal refreshments’ I’ll call it a few years ago, and I didn’t like how it made me feel. [One day] my knees were bothering me, my legs were bothering me, and I couldn’t find my [regular] stuff that I use. I looked under the sink and I was like, ‘What’s this Uncle Buds, did I get this from an awards show?’ So I put it on my leg and I kind of forgot about it, and an hour later I was like, ‘Oh my leg feels better!

Dove and Coconut Oil

Braxton swears by Dove products and coconut oil for her beautiful complexion. “I am a Dove girl. I use Dove for everything, though I take off my makeup every night with coconut oil,” she told Healthy Living Magazine. “I’ve been doing that the last four or five years. Then I just use Dove on my face. Everything’s Dove; bodywash, everything… I’m very, very fortunate this time of year, because sometimes I’m eating badly during the holidays and have breakouts. This year it’s been doing very, very well. I drink a lot of water, which I hate doing, but it definitely helps.

The New Badge of Femininity

When Toni Braxton posed for the current issue of Vibe wearing little more than a sultry look, hers ripped. So did Sarah Jessica Parker’s in recent wedding photos. We’re talking arms, the body part du jour and the latest object of obsession for women already on a quest for the perfect abs, glutes and quads. Strong, lean arms are the new badge of femininity.Women are heading to the gym--or even to plastic surgeons--to shave or stave off those flaccid flaps of skin that hang under the upper arm like pockets of Jell-O.Fat cells tend to accumulate there, making the area workout-resistant and, for some, a cruel and obvious reminder of age.

Staying Fit After 40
