The ketogenic diet, or keto, is a low-carb, high-fat eating plan that has gained considerable popularity. Whether you're fully committed to achieving ketosis or simply exploring low-carb options, a well-equipped kitchen is essential for success. This guide provides a comprehensive overview of the tools, equipment, and pantry staples you need to thrive on a keto diet.
Cookware Essentials
The right cookware can significantly impact your keto cooking experience. High-heat techniques are fundamental to keto, allowing you to sear meats and sauté vegetables to perfection. Durable, non-reactive materials like carbon steel and stainless steel are ideal for withstanding high temperatures and ensuring even heat distribution.
High-Heat Heroes: Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel Pans
Carbon steel and stainless steel cookware are essential for searing, sautéing, and even baking. They can move seamlessly from the stovetop to the oven, perfect for dishes like frittatas or finishing a steak. These materials also excel at developing a hard sear, creating flavorful browned bits (fond) for rich, low-carb sauces.
The Searing Superstar: Seasoned Carbon Steel Frying Pan
For keto dieters, a perfect sear is where the flavor is. The Made In Seasoned Carbon Steel Frying Pan offers the intense heat retention of cast iron with a lightweight design, making it your go-to for steaks, pork chops, and chicken thighs. Carbon steel develops a naturally slick non-stick patina over time, letting you get restaurant-quality crust on a steak without using excessive oil. Clean up is a simple wipe-down.
Breakfast and Batch-Cooking Champion: The Griddle
A keto breakfast often means cooking bacon, sausage, and eggs all at once. The Made In Griddle’s large, flat surface provides ample space to cook an entire family’s breakfast simultaneously. Get bacon perfectly crispy while frying eggs and searing halloumi cheese right alongside it, all without crowding the cooking surface. Beyond breakfast, The Made In Griddle is excellent for weekly meal prep. Its even heat distribution helps it sear multiple burger patties or a full batch of caramelized cauliflower steaks for lunch or dinner. It keeps your keto diet varied and never boring, with the easiest cleanup imaginable.

The Meal-Prep Powerhouse: Sheet Pans
Keto success often hinges on preparation. Roasting large batches of vegetables like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and asparagus is a smart way to ensure healthy sides are always available. A Made In Sheet Pan is essential for this. Made with commercial-grade aluminum, Made In’s Sheet Pans heat evenly and resist warping, even at high roasting temperatures. Vegetables caramelize beautifully and you can cook an entire sheet of chicken breasts or salmon fillets for the week with consistent results. For an easy, hands-off keto dinner, toss chicken thighs and cabbage in olive oil and spices and roast together on a Made In Sheet Pan until golden and cooked through. This pan is the foundation of an efficient keto kitchen.

Keto Glossary
To save you all some trouble, here’s that glossary I wish I had.
- Apple Cider Vinegar.
- Almond flour is a genuinely magical keto staple!
- Unsweetened almond milk is your way to make mind-blowingly good smoothies and breakfasts still while keeping your oath to the Keto society.
- Avocados, in general, are healthy substitutes for many unhealthy foods (like mayo, for instance). But avocado ice cream, in particular, should be a thing even if you don’t care about carbs or macros!
- Bulletproof coffee is a blend of coffee and healthy fats, including grass-fed butter and MCT (you’ll find it a bit further down the list). It is actually super trendy not only to Keto followers but on its own. It prevents hunger, provides more energy and mental focus, especially if you tend to skip breakfast.
- Bulletproof tea.
- Chaffles: Cheese + Waffles = Chaffles. Chaffles are amazing! And you can make them savory or sweet; you can add so much into a simple two-ingredient recipe; it’s mind-blowing!
- Chia seeds are classified as a superfood, packed with omega-3, fiber, iron, and calcium. I used to make smoothies with chia seeds or sprinkle them on salads long before my low-carb escapades. And discovering all the different chia pudding recipes as a popular Keto-friendly breakfast was more than pleasant.
- Cloud bread: It’s not made of clouds, and it does not taste anything like bread. I know, I was disappointed too. It does have a fluffy cloud-like texture and is a high-protein bread alternative when you are tired of using lettuce for hamburger buns.
- Coconut Flour: Here’s another type of gluten-free flour I heard of before but only started to appreciate recently.
- Erythritol: This is one of the Keto-friendly sugar substitutes. It has no calories, doesn’t cause blood sugar spikes, yet still has 70% of regular sugar’s sweetness. Sounds pretty good, right?
- Fat bombs are a type of high-fat delicious snack that claims to provide you with healthy calories and a boost of energy. They can be sweet or savory, cheesy or chocolatey, snacks, or even replace a meal. They are beneficial for someone with a busy lifestyle, keto or not. I mean, if you are super active and need to replenish your energy quickly, then keto fat bombs are the way to go. But don’t you think they are just a snack to help you through an uneventful day. They are very high in calories and have to be consumed mindfully and in moderation. They are absolutely delicious, though, and saved me from giving in to my cravings many times.
