Surgical and Non-Surgical Options

Dr. Baranov has extensive experience in performing minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgical procedures. These include:

  • Laparoscopic Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy: This procedure involves removing a large portion of the stomach, restricting food intake and reducing hunger.
  • Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass: This procedure creates a small stomach pouch and reroutes the small intestine, limiting food absorption and reducing calorie intake.
  • Gastric Balloon Procedures: This non-surgical option involves placing a balloon in the stomach to create a feeling of fullness and reduce food intake.

The program also offers other weight loss options, including Intragastric balloon and weight loss medications.

Information Sessions

To learn more about the Saratoga Bariatric Surgery and Weight Loss Program, free information sessions are held twice a month on Tuesday evenings. Attendance at a 90-minute information session is required prior to making an initial appointment. During the seminar, Dr. Dmitri Baranov discusses bariatric surgery and other weight loss options, including time for questions and answers. The free virtual seminar makes it easy to get the details needed to take this important step in your weight loss journey.

Clinic Design and Patient Privacy

The Saratoga Bariatric Surgery and Weight Loss Program clinic is designed with patient privacy and comfort in mind. The clinic includes five exam rooms and one treatment room (for minor procedures), a nutritionist office, a nurses’ station, various support spaces, and four offices.

Patient privacy was a key consideration in the design. The check-in/check-out area is separated from the waiting area by half-height walls with a decorative semi-translucent panel at the top. The patient triage/scale area is located in an alcove off the clinic corridor. The privacy panels between check-in stations include a drywall base with a translucent resin panel top to obscure views but let some light through so the entire check-in area feels more open.

The design uses cherry-look plastic laminate panels at the front of the check-in desk and solid surface countertops to achieve a higher-end look while keeping cost and upkeep in mind. The edges of the resin panel tops are wrapped with metal trim to complement the richness of the wood-grain laminate. The rear wall of the check-in area includes a series of the same wood-grain plastic laminate panels with metal reveals to match the metal trim at divider walls.

Support Groups

The Saratoga Bariatric Surgery and Weight Loss Program offers monthly support groups for all patients, no matter what stage they are at in their weight loss journey. The support groups are held at the Saratoga Senior Center (attached to the Saratoga YMCA at 290 West Ave) and typically last 1 hour. They are free for anyone to attend, and no registration is required.
