Simple Paleo Smoothie Base Recipe
Start with a base of coconut milk; I usually use a whole can. Add plenty of any fruit you'd like. I like to use frozen berries. I use either mixed berries, strawberries, blackberries, or even cranberries, which give a very tangy taste to my smoothie. The berries add a lot of great color to the smoothie and provide lots of beneficial antioxidants. Add one or two whole raw egg yolks. I wouldn't worry about having raw egg yolks, especially if you use free range, naturally fed, and organic eggs. The taste will not bother you either; it passes completely under the radar. I just put in the eggs for extra fat and nutrients. I avoid consuming raw egg whites as they can cause biotin deficiency when consumed over a long period of time. Optionally add one or two spoonfuls of your favorite nut butter.

Addressing Autoimmune Flare-Ups with Paleo Shakes
During times of autoimmune flare-ups, finding foods that are easily digestible and nutrient-dense can be challenging. Paleo protein shakes can be a valuable option in these situations.
One individual shared their experience of relying on chocolate paleo protein shakes during a recent autoimmune flare-up when they were unable to tolerate bone broth or other foods. They found that the shakes, containing collagen peptides, provided essential protein and amino acids. The bananas also helped replenish potassium levels, which were often depleted during the flare-up.
Note: Keep in mind that every body is different. What I can tolerate during a flare, could be different than what you can. I also used the chocolate paleo protein shake as a complete meal replacement, so keep that in mind as well!
A Basic Chocolate Paleo Protein Shake Recipe
- 1-2 scoops of chocolate collagen peptides
- 1 banana
- Nut milk (almond, cashew, etc.) to desired consistency
