High School Foundation
At Elizabeth High School, Nicholas Garrett excelled as a four-year letter winner in football and also participated in baseball. His sophomore year saw him named Second Team All-Conference. As a junior and senior, he earned First Team All-League honors, demonstrating consistent improvement and leadership. His senior year was particularly remarkable, as he was named All-State and league MVP, solidifying his position as a top player.
Garrett's leadership extended beyond individual accolades, as he led his team to league championships in his junior and senior years. He also experienced team success as a sophomore, contributing to league and state championship victories. His commitment to academics was equally impressive, earning him Academic All-State honors in his sophomore, junior, and senior years. Notably, high school teammate Brody Oliver also joined Mines in 2014.
Collegiate Career
Early Years
Nicholas Garrett began making his mark in college. In 2016, he emerged on the scene during a Homecoming game against Northern State. He saw playing time against Minnesota Crookston two weeks later. He made his first collegiate catch against Mary at Malosky Stadium on Nov. 5.
2017 Season
The 2017 season saw Garrett become more involved in the team's passing game. He caught six passes for 66 yards and one touchdown against Minnesota Crookston on Nov. 4. All of his receptions came in the final three games of the year, including four in a 62-27 victory over Mary. Academically, 2017 was also a strong year, earning him RMAC First-Team All-Academic and NFFCC First-Team Academic All-Colorado honors.

2018 Season
2018 was a breakout junior season for Garrett. He hauled in a career-high 21 catches, ranking fifth on the team's reception charts. He played in all 12 games, starting in five. He caught at least one pass in the final 10 games of the season. He recorded 292 receiving yards on the year, a significant increase from his combined 129 yards in the previous two seasons.
Before College
Before his collegiate career, Garrett made the most of his one year as a starter at Andover High School. He was chosen for the All-Northwest Suburban Conference team and received the Huskies' 2014 Most Valuable Offensive Player award.

Nicholas Garrett is the son of Doug and Katy Eliason.
