Lauren Bushnell Lane, known for her appearance on Ben Higgins' season of "The Bachelor" in 2016, has experienced a remarkable transformation since then. Beyond her physical changes, she has cultivated a successful social media presence, travels extensively with her husband, country singer Chris Lane, and is a mother. Her journey encompasses not only changes in her physical appearance but also significant life events and a focus on health and well-being.
From Bachelor Nation to Married Life
Lauren Bushnell captured Ben Higgins' heart during season 20 of "The Bachelor." The couple got engaged in Jamaica during the finale, and Ben even proposed again during "After the Final Rose" so that both of their families could be present. However, their relationship ended in May 2017, after over a year together. Lauren later admitted that she didn’t “think it was the best idea” to do another show.
Ben told Entertainment Tonight that he and Lauren were sharing everything, but his reactions were not good, because it wasn’t what he expected or what he was used to. As an only child, he had routines and consistencies in his life that he held on to too closely. Ben is now engaged to Jessica Clarke and plans to attend couples’ counseling.
Lauren married country singer Chris Lane in October 2019.
Lauren's Views on Diet and Exercise
Lauren Bushnell Lane emphasizes balance and a healthy lifestyle. She is not a proponent of restrictive diets. She told Us Weekly at Rails’ first ever pop-up at The Grove on Saturday, April 20 (which is open through April 30), that she is not a dieter, and feels that any time she tries to deprive herself or restrict herself into a box, she ends up obsessing about it. She believes that food should be energy and should be eaten to get your nutrients and your energy.

She is a Pilates fan. Lauren also works out with Bachelor Nation’s Shawn Booth at his gym in Nashville called Booth Camp, which is circuit training. She acknowledges the importance of both exercise and healthy eating, emphasizing that one cannot simply work out constantly without paying attention to their diet. She believes in balance, suggesting that if you’re craving a cheeseburger, you should eat one, but not every day.
Lauren clarified that “I don’t like the word diet”. She stated that you should eat for energy, you should listen to your body and live a balanced lifestyle, but at the same time, whatever works for you.
Addressing Body Image and Postpartum Changes
Lauren has been open about her experiences with body image, particularly after giving birth. She has hit back at Instagram body shamers targeting her postpartum body. The two welcomed their first son, Dutton, in June 2021. She shared that she cannot gain weight, except when pregnant or on oral contraceptives. “I just had a bunch of blood work done because society tells you that if you don’t fit into a certain mold - there is something wrong with you,” she wrote.
Partnering with Hill's Pet Nutrition for Pet Health
Lauren and Chris Lane have partnered with Hill’s Pet Nutrition for its annual ‘End Pet Obesity’ campaign. They are parents to two sons and two shelter dogs, Chloe and Cooper. Lauren mentioned that after a delicious barbecue dinner, it’s tempting for her and Chris to give Chloe and Cooper a couple of scraps each. At their last vet visit, they learned that Chloe is a few pounds overweight, which can lead to greater health risks. Hill’s has shown them that by switching foods, they don’t need to make any drastic lifestyle changes to get her on the way back to a healthy weight.
Chris Lane added that Hill's has helped them show Chloe and Cooper their greatest form of love - keeping them at a healthy weight, in the most convenient way possible. They know this new way of feeding will allow them to watch their kids and their dogs make special memories together for a long time.
