She possessed a true Southern cook, and her casseroles are still legendary among her nieces-though she never quite mastered meatloaf. Her coconut cake and chocolate pies were family favorites. Emily is survived by her husband, Tom Dieter; her daughters, Cathi Ruszkowski (Scott) and Jennie Mast; and her grandchildren: Dieter, Jarek, and Ignatius Ruszkowski, and McKenna Mast Meert (Zach) and Emilie Mast-all of South Bend. John Cosby (partner Denise), Anne Lewis, and Mallory Driskill (Blake); her lifelong friend and college roommate of 60 years, Joan Cuccias Patton; and dear friends Karen Malling and Diane Baumhower. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

The funeral service was held from St. with Pastor Jason Schultz officiating. A reception will follow. Interment will take place at the Carnduff Cemetery, Carnduff, SK.
