Over the past decade, diets have become almost as fleeting as fashion trends. However, some diets, such as the ketogenic diet (keto), have considerable staying power. The ketogenic diet has officially become the USA’s favorite diet, according to a Google search analysis by Supplement Place, which found that Americans are more interested in keto than any other diet. While the keto diet has both advantages and disadvantages, one of the biggest complaints is the lack of keto-friendly eating establishments.
To optimize weight loss efforts while on keto, consuming the right foods is essential. Insufficient fat intake, for example, can lead to stalled weight loss, hunger, and fatigue. Fortunately, Seattle offers a variety of restaurants that cater to the needs of keto dieters.
This guide explores some of Seattle's best keto-friendly restaurants, offering a diverse range of cuisines and dining experiences.
Asadero Prime: A Mexican Steakhouse for Meat Lovers
If you love smoked meats, Asadero Prime is the place to be! Asadero Prime is a Mexican steakhouse specializing in premium, mesquite-grilled meats. These high-end cuts of meat, like tenderloin and zabuton, are typically seasoned with simple spices and cooked perfectly.
Our favorite dishes include the Vacio Wagyu and La Carne Asada. The meats come with tortillas and/or rice, but you can replace those with low-in-carb veggies. Asadero has restaurants in Ballard (Seattle) and Kent.

Taylor Shellfish: Fresh Shellfish Delights
Taylor Shellfish farms high-quality shellfish and has several oyster bars in the Seattle area where you can enjoy oysters, clams, mussels, geoduck, and more. Chefs cook the meats to order on tabletop grills at each of the tables. The restaurant has a good selection of high-end meats that come with sauces, pickled vegetables and lettuce wraps (be sure to ask your server which sauces or sides contain sugar).
Some of the marinated meats may also include sugar (again, ask your server), but you can order unmarinated cuts with simple seasoning. Cost: Most 6- to 10-ounce cuts of beef are around $50.

Aahar: Multi-Regional Indian Cuisine
Aahar is one of our favorite Indian restaurants in the Seattle area with a location in Snoqualmie. It serves multi-regional Indian food with a focus on Southern Indian cuisine. Specialty regional dishes include dosas, fish curries, biriyanis and Thali. We appreciate that they don't include sugar in a number of their dishes, particularly Chicken Tikka Masala (a must!).
Some of our favorite dishes include the Kerala fried fish and palak paneer. Unfortunately, you can't get riced cauliflower (which is a hard find at most restaurants), but we'll sometimes bring our own or simply take home to eat. The restaurant is close to the famous Snoqualmie Falls, so if you're in the area be sure to check it out.
Japonessa: Sushi Without the Rice
If you're looking for tasty sushi rolls that you can get without the rice and the carbs that go with it, then be sure to check out Japonessa in Bellevue. Japonessa is fusion Japanese restaurant with a Latin flair. You can find sushi rolls that include jalapenos, cilantro, lime or even mango. The fish is fresh and the sushi combinations are delicious. It's a popular restaurant in downtown Bellevue that usually has a wait, so be sure to book in advance.
