Simple Keto Garlic Butter Sauce
This easy garlic butter sauce recipe is an excellent way to add savory, buttery flavor to meats, seafood and vegetables! Just four simple ingredients and a quick preparation time are all you need to make a buttery, delicious sauce that is rich and luscious and garlic-packed.
Ingredients:
- Salted butter (grass-fed butter is a healthier choice)
- Fresh garlic cloves (store-bought minced garlic is also fine)
- Lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- Fresh herbs (parsley, rosemary, or dill)
Instructions:
- In a small saucepan set over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Continue heating it until it reaches a very low sizzle.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Watch it closely as it can burn quickly. Only cook the garlic until it's lightly browned and fragrant.
- Stir in the chopped herbs and lemon juice. Remove the pan from the heat.
- Taste the butter sauce and adjust as needed, adding a bit of salt or lemon juice if desired. If you are sensitive to salt, I recommend using unsalted butter and adding salt to taste at the very end.
- Serve immediately or transfer the garlic butter sauce to a small serving dish.
Tips for Success:
- Do not overcook the butter unless you are going for brown butter, an entirely different process.
- If you'd like a thicker sauce, whisk in a thickening agent like cornstarch, arrowroot powder or xanthan gum. I prefer a pinch (about ⅛ teaspoon or less) of xanthan gum because it's low-carb and a little bit goes a long way.
Storage:
Store the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Reheat it in the microwave, warming it for 10-second increments at a time and stirring afterward.
Keto Roasted Garlic Cream Sauce
It's easy to make a creamy garlic flavored sauce to add flavor to any meat dish. This recipe utilizes roasted garlic for a milder, sweeter garlic flavor.

Ingredients:
- Garlic head
- Olive oil
- Broth (chicken or vegetable)
- Heavy cream or coconut cream
- Glucomannan (for thickening)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Remove cloves from garlic head and peel. I tend to smash the garlic clove to get it to peel. I've tried shaking the cloves vigorously in a mason jar. And, I've yet to give the garlic peeler tool a try. What's the method that you prefer to use for peeling garlic?
- Place on aluminum foil and drizzle with olive oil.
- Close foil around garlic and bake in 400°F oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until soft.
- Place the roasted garlic in a blender with broth and cream. Blend until well combined. The reason why I peel the garlic cloves is because I like to puree them into the sauce.
- Pour cream and broth mixture into a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil.
- Remove from heat and whisk in glucomannan, salt, and black pepper. Adjust seasonings if needed.
Lebanese Garlic Sauce (Toum)
Toum is a popular garlic sauce in the Lebanese community and is naturally a ketogenic condiment. It is most often served with chicken.
Ingredients:
- Garlic cloves (about 1 cup peeled)
- Neutral oil (avocado oil, olive oil, or grapeseed oil)
- Lemon juice
- Salt
Instructions:
- Add garlic, water and salt to a food processor.
- The garlic is pureed in a food processor while a neutral oil is drizzled in slowly.
- You want the garlic sauce to emulsify into a fluffy white cream. To achieve this, it is best to use a food processor and very slowly drizzle in the oil. The toum is still delicious even if the emulsion breaks, but it doesn’t look pretty. This usually occurs if you are adding the oil too fast.
Storage:
Store toum in an airtight container. The garlic sauce will stay fresh for up to 2 months.
Keto Lemon Garlic Sauce

Freezing Instructions:
If you want to freeze this keto-friendly pizza sauce to use later, you can definitely do that as well. Next, you’ll want to put your bag inside of another freezer-safe container. When it comes time to thaw it out, simply take the bag out of the container and leave it in a small bowl in the fridge overnight.
Garlic Cream Sauce
My Garlic Cream Sauce is what simple dreams are made of. Not only is it gluten-free and super keto-friendly, but it’s light, bright and a true delight! As if that wasn’t enough, it’s made in under 10 minutes and only requires FOUR simple ingredients and any simple seasonings you may have lying around the cupboard.
Instructions:
- Melt the butter in a 4.5- to 5-quart sauté pan over medium heat.
- Add the garlic and sauté for about 2 minutes, until lightly browned.
- Add the liquid of choice and bring to a bubble for 1 minute.
- Add the cream and any seasonings (see Jeff’s Tips), increase the heat to medium-high, and bring to a light boil.
- Reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 5-8 minutes, stirring or whisking frequently, until the sauce is thickened up a bit and decently coats the back of a spoon.
- Turn the heat off. If using the sauce for pasta, add 1 pound of any cooked pasta of your choice to the sauté pan and toss until combined with the sauce (NOTE: Feel free to add reserved pasta water in ¼ cup increments for an even creamier sauce). For the seasonings, I suggest starting with 1⁄2 teaspoon each of salt, pepper, oregano, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and/or onion powder.

- Chicken: My favorite food to eat with toum is chicken. I use ¼ cup of garlic sauce to marinade my chicken for at least 30 minutes before grilling.

Additional Tips and Information
- Grass-fed butter has quite a few benefits, making it a much healthier choice than conventional grain-fed butter. I try my best to choose organic grass-fed butter whenever possible. Kerrygold is my favorite (no, not sponsored). Even if it did not have tons of health benefits, I would still be consuming it just for the taste alone.
- One of the things I've found that helps with garlic breath is chewing on a fennel seeds.
- In fact, Filipinos love garlic. I actually considered adding in two heads into this roasted garlic cream sauce. I'll admit that I'm one of those people that likes to double or triple the garlic that's called for in a recipe. I'm also known to use garlic for other things. My oldest daughter used to get a lot of ear infections when she was younger. Recently, I tried using garlic juice on pimples. Surprisingly, it works very well.
- It wasn't that long ago that I used to buy the minced garlic in a jar. It's so easy to mince it yourself with a good garlic press. Although the garlic in a jar may seem convenient, it really doesn't take much more to pull out the press and mince it fresh. So, be sure to use fresh cloves with making this roasted garlic cream sauce.
