Bitcoin extortion case

A total of 14 people, including the then police inspector (PI) Anant Patel, former BJP MLA Nalin Kotadiya, ex-Amreli SP Jagdish Patel, and a lawyer, have been named as accused in the sensational 2018 kidnapping and bitcoin extortion case involving Surat-based builder Shailesh Bhatt. As per the case details, Bhatt was allegedly kidnapped by PI Anant Patel and his team using government vehicles. The accused took him near Gandhinagar and allegedly forced him to transfer 176 bitcoins worth around ₹9 crore. Following this, CID arrested Jagdish Patel as well and continued further probe.
