Ryse Protein for Weight Loss: A Comprehensive Review

RYSE supplements have gained significant popularity, offering a wide range of products, including the well-regarded RYSE Loaded Protein. This article delves into RYSE Loaded Protein, examining its ingredients, flavors, and overall effectiveness, particularly in the context of weight loss.

What is RYSE Loaded Protein?

RYSE LOADED PROTEIN combines premium ingredients with added benefits while simultaneously bringing incredible 5 star reviewed flavors to the table! There is no reason you can't have the added benefits of a high quality protein formula without sacrificing taste. Mix one serving in 6-8oz. RYSE Loaded Protein consists of 2 different types of protein, whey isolate being the primary source and whey concentrate being the secondary. RYSE Loaded Protein contains 1g of a specific type of healthy fat, called medium-chain triglycerides, or more simply…MCT Oil. Lastly, RYSE Loaded Protein uses prebiotic fiber to improve digestion and prevent any dreaded stomach bloat.

Ingredients and Nutritional Information

RYSE Loaded Protein utilizes a blend of whey protein isolate and whey protein concentrate, providing 25 grams of protein per serving. Whey is a quality, complete protein source that’s easy for your body to digest and absorb. Whey protein isolate has more grams of protein than the same amount of whey concentrate, which means it also has fewer carbs and fats. Each serving contains 3-5 grams of carbs (depending on the flavor) and 1-2 grams of fat. Twenty-five grams of protein for 130 to 150 calories is right in line with many other protein powders and should work well for most fitness goals.

Additionally, RYSE Loaded Protein contains 1g of a specific type of healthy fat, called medium-chain triglycerides, or more simply…MCT Oil. Lastly, RYSE Loaded Protein uses prebiotic fiber to improve digestion and prevent any dreaded stomach bloat.

Flavors and Taste

RYSE Loaded Protein comes in a whopping eleven flavors, which is kind of insane. It certainly makes it hard to pick out just one, doesn’t it? But unfortunately that is the reality. NOTE: I used one level scoop of Loaded Protein mixed into 12 ounces of whole milk for my taste-test.

Here’s a breakdown of some of the flavors:

  • Peanut Butter: The Peanut Butter flavor is a personal favorite, and I love how easily the whey blend mixes with just a small amount of water. The result? A creamy, smooth shake that tasted just like a peanut butter cup. The flavor was spot-on, and the texture was perfect - no chalky aftertaste or gritty bits.

  • Marshmallow: I’ve honestly never had a marshmallow-flavored protein powder before, so I didn’t know what to expect. But this flavor was so light, and smooth, that I couldn’t stop drinking it. It tasted almost like a birthday cake that had the wrong frosting on it, if that makes sense. The flavor is very sweet, with a strong vanilla flavor and an aftertaste that immediately reminds me of marshmallow fluff.

  • Fruity Crunch: Unfortunately, Fruity Crunch, didn’t quite live up to my expectations. The smell was fruity but artificial, and it tasted more like fruity punch than cereal like I was hoping for. It mixed well, but nowhere near the same as the Skippy Peanut Butter. It tasted a little bit like the Ghost Whey ‘Fruity Cereal Milk’ flavor, but just a tad sweeter, which I didn’t mind.

  • Blueberry Muffin: You guys know I am a sucker for anything blueberry flavor, so I was pretty stoked to try this one - and it did not disappoint. This tastes exactly like that, in the best way possible. It is sweet, decadent, and really tastes like a muffin somehow. That’s the best way I can describe it - it is simply fantastic.

  • S’mores: If you are into s’mores, than this flavor is for you. You get chocolate, graham cracker, and marshmallow all in one. It tastes like a real moonpie but also if you close your eyes it also tastes quite a bit like a s’more.

Mixability and Texture

I scored Ryse’s mixability a 6.9 out of 10. Even after shaking it for 15-30 seconds (which is my standard mixing time), there was still some leftover residue and powder at the bottom of my shaker bottle. But, despite the leftover bits, the actual consistency of the shake was decent. I did experiment with adding more than the recommended 4-6 ounces of water, and it helped. For solubility, this protein earns a 4.5-out-of-5 rating. There were very small floaters even after I mixed this with a blender ball, but overall, it was quite smooth in both milk and water.

RYSE Protein and Weight Loss

Ryse can be a helpful tool in your weight loss journey thanks to its low carb and fat content. The high protein content can aid in satiety, helping to control appetite and reduce overall calorie intake.

Potential Downsides

Ryse does use artificial flavoring and sweeteners in their blend. While I don’t mind the occasional artificial flavor or sweetener, it may not work for everyone. Some users may experience digestive stress due to lactose intolerance, or sensitivities to some of the other sweeteners or ingredients.

Third-Party Testing and Quality

Ryse claims to test their products “multiple times” but it’s unclear whether that testing is done in-house or by a third party. RYSE has no information about third-party testing, though they state that they manufacture their products in a high-quality “level 3 FDA-approved and regulated facility.” They also say that their facilities are “banned-substance-free.” Still, having a third party affirm this information would be preferable.

Cost and Value

Ryse protein powder falls right in the middle of the price range. Ryse is priced just about right, in my opinion. RYSE sells the tubs in 20-serving, 27-serving, and 54-serving options, with prices ranging from $1.48 to $1.90 depending on the size. At $1.66 per serving, Ryse is pricier than some of my go-to brands like Optimum Nutrition.
