The pursuit of weight loss solutions has led to a surge in products claiming to mimic the effects of GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) agonist medications. Among these is Xyngular's GLP-X, a supplement marketed as a "natural" alternative for weight loss and GLP-1 support. This article delves into the science behind GLP-1, examines the ingredients in GLP-X, and critically evaluates the claims made by Xyngular.
Understanding GLP-1 and Its Role in Weight Management
GLP-1 is a peptide hormone produced in the intestine that plays a crucial role in regulating blood sugar levels and appetite. It stimulates insulin release from the pancreas after meals, which helps lower blood glucose. GLP-1 also slows down gastrointestinal motility, leading to a feeling of fullness and reduced food intake. These effects have made GLP-1 receptor agonists a popular and effective treatment for type 2 diabetes and weight loss.
Xyngular's GLP-X: A Closer Look
Xyngular GLP-X is marketed as a premium supplement crafted from naturally sourced ingredients clinically studied to increase GLP-1 production. Xyngular claims that within this exclusive formulation, three focused blends work non-stop to regulate hunger, combat bloat, and maintain healthy blood sugar levels, enabling the long-term success you’ve been looking for! The supplement is part of Xyngular's product lineup which includes the Gut Collective. When taken together, they can assist with healthy weight loss, improve gut health, and support healthy aging benefits. The Gut Collective includes a custom blend of products that promote a better, healthier you-both inside and out. But if you want even better results, select the Gut Collective + GLP-X and supercharge your outcome.
However, a closer inspection reveals that GLP-X relies on a proprietary blend of ingredients, including Eriomin and berberine, alongside a "water balance blend" (a diuretic). This raises concerns about the actual efficacy and safety of the product.
Deconstructing the Ingredients
Eriomin: Eriomin is a patented citrus bioflavonoid nutraceutical supplement. It's also an ingredient in the Glucose Goddess’s Anti-Spike supplement. There is a 12-week 2022 study featuring Eriomin found a 17% rise in GLP-1 with 200 mg a day of the ingredient. In the above studies, we see that GLP-1 levels were indeed higher after supplementation with Eriomin. This sounds great, until you’re wanting to use this ingredient to promote weight loss.

Berberine: Berberine has positive effects for increasing GLP-1 and for decreasing blood glucose in people with diabetes. Again, clinical relevance of this ingredient for GLP-1-related weight loss?
Proprietary Blends and Hidden Information: GLP-X also contains a proprietary ‘water balance blend,’ otherwise known as a diuretic. A word about proprietary blends: I recommend not purchasing products that contain proprietary blends. These are basically smokescreens that companies can hide behind so they don’t have to reveal the exact amounts of ingredients that are in their products. It could be a little, it could be a lot. It could be the effective dose (assuming any of the ingredients are effective at all), it could be less. For GLP-X, for example, we have no idea how much Berberine or Eriomin is in each capsule. Nothing about these two minerals increases weight loss or GLP-1.
The Marketing Tactics and Misleading Claims
Xyngular and its salespeople claim that the ingredients in GLP-X are "clinically studied to increase GLP-1." However, this statement can be misleading, leading consumers to believe that GLP-X itself has been proven effective for weight loss, which is not the case. There are plenty of GLP-X testimonials, but these are easily faked, and guess what? MLM coaches love to post them, but conveniently forget to post the not-so-glowing reviews, too. The promoting of Big Pharma conspiracy theories while spouting the Appeal to Nature fallacy (natural is better! OMG SYNTHETIC MEDICATION!) is a classic sales tactic that’s sadly becoming more common, especially among multi-level marketing salespeople. Everyone should be aware of this sort of thing. Oh, and also, this supplement is NOT ‘backed by 3 clinical trials.’ Not even close.
The Role of Diet and Lifestyle in GLP-1 Production
While supplements like GLP-X may promise to boost GLP-1 levels, it's important to remember that diet and lifestyle play a significant role in natural GLP-1 production. There are certain foods that are known to increase levels of GLP-1 in our bodies. In particular, mono and polyunsaturated fats, proteins, and fermentable fibre (fermentation in the gut to short-chain fatty acids increases GLP-1 levels) from grains, legumes, and some fruits like apples and green bananas. My recommendations here are the same as always: lots of fibre, adequate protein, healthy fats.
The Bottom Line: Is GLP-X Worth the Investment?
The appeal of a "natural" GLP-1 supplement is understandable, especially given the high cost and potential side effects of prescription GLP-1 medications. However, the lack of transparency regarding ingredient dosages, the reliance on proprietary blends, and the questionable marketing tactics employed by Xyngular raise serious concerns about the efficacy and value of GLP-X.

For $75 USD for a 30-day supply, consumers are better off focusing on evidence-based strategies for weight management, such as adopting a healthy diet rich in fiber, protein, and healthy fats, engaging in regular physical activity, and seeking guidance from qualified healthcare professionals. If a supplement does have similar efficacy to actual GLP-1 agonist meds for weight loss, it likely will not be sold by a multi-level marketing company.
