Fatboy SSE's Weight Loss Journey: A Transformation of Health and Mindset

Tyriq T. Kimbrough, born on November 16, 1993, rose to fame as Fatboy SSE, a rapper, comedian, and social media personality. Over the past several years, he has become an inspiration for many people, not only because of his transformative rise to fame from humble beginnings but also because of another major transformation that he has shared with his fan base. He has lost over 150 pounds and has been very candid with his followers about his weight loss journey.

From Humble Beginnings to Social Media Star

Growing up in a suburb near New York City, Tyriq T. Kimbrough had a rough start, selling drugs at age 14 and spending a few years in jail. In 2015, he started a YouTube channel and began sharing his music, which led to his becoming popular in 2016 after the release of his first mixtape. His popularity continued to rise as he released another mixtape, followed by two albums, and began sharing this music and his comedy on Instagram.

The Weight Gain: A Pescatarian Diet Gone Wrong

Fatboy SSE shared on the Nothin 2 Somethin Podcast that he had been a practicing pescatarian for 7 years, abstaining from meat and only consuming fish and shellfish. Despite avoiding meat, he consumed large quantities of rice, bread, potatoes, pasta, and other high-calorie foods with no regard for portion control.

Traveling and constantly on the road, he frequently ate on-the-go food from places like McDonald's and Waffle House, often consuming two or three plates of food in one sitting. By December 2018, he weighed 349 pounds. With his 5-foot-10-inch height, his BMI exceeded 50, placing him in the obesity class III category.

The Motivation: An Unexpected Catalyst

Fatboy SSE revealed to DJ. Drewski on the M.V.M.T. podcast that his motivation to lose weight was that he had heard that losing weight would enhance the size of his penis. Now that he is on the other side of his weight loss, he jokes that it must have worked because he has kids; however, he also realizes all the many other benefits he is experiencing from his improved health.

Initial Weight Loss: Simple Changes, Significant Results

In early 2019, Fatboy SSE began eating smaller meals consisting of foods like salmon, broccoli, one helping of mashed potatoes, and soft plantains. By cutting back on his portions and making some different food choices, he gradually began losing weight, and by September 2019 he was down to 280 pounds. He was shocked that he had dropped over 70 pounds as a result of only these changes.

Setbacks and Regaining Control

In early 2020, some life events caused his weight to increase by about 20 pounds. The pandemic hit, and he was stuck in the house; his daughter was born, and he moved to California, falling back into some of the old habits. He was frequenting Jack In The Box and Del Taco, eating pizza, and falling prey to old habits.

By the summer of 2021, he realized he needed to get his eating back under control or he would lose all the progress he had made, so he began to eat healthier and smaller portions. By November 2021, he weighed 240 pounds, and, at the time of this interview, his weight continued to fluctuate between 10 and 20 pounds.

Suture Sculpt ESG: A Non-Surgical Solution

Fatboy SSE did not have weight loss surgery, but he did undergo an endoscopic procedure called Suture Sculpt ESG, performed by Dr. Steven Batash at Batash Endoscopic Weight Loss Center in New York City.

This non-surgical procedure produces similar results to bariatric gastric sleeve surgery, but there are no incisions and the recovery time is minimal. The biggest benefit of Suture Sculpt is that it helps you feel satisfied longer instead of hungry all the time by making your stomach smaller and helping you control your portions.

Lifestyle Changes: The Key to Long-Term Success

Suture Sculpt will only be successful in helping you maintain a healthy weight if you make significant changes to your lifestyle. Fatboy SSE incorporated exercise into his lifestyle and began going to the gym. He stated in his interview with DJ. Drewski learned that losing weight is about eating right and changing your mindset. He said he used to go to White Castle and eat a box of 30 cheeseburgers with mozzarella sticks, but now his meals consist of foods like salmon and cauliflower rice. He does not eat candy, chips, junk food, or sodas, and he doesn’t miss those things.

He went on to say that people need to stop thinking that they can go to the gym, run on the treadmill, and work out for a few hours a few days a week, and then go to a burger spot and pig out on extra cheese and all the fixings. He told DJ Drewski that he knows how it is; he lived it. You can’t exercise and then think you can eat whatever you want, you have to get your diet right, and you will see the results.

A Positive Experience with Dr. Batash

When Fatboy came back to the center for a visit a year after his Suture Sculpt ESG procedure, he was thrilled to have a neck, saying he had never been able to see his neck before. He said, “I appreciate Dr. Batash; I love him to death; he is an incredible dude. You can call him, and he will help you, he will talk to you. People call his cell phone; he is very hands-on”.

He went on to say that Dr. Batash is not one of those doctors who takes your money and then does the procedure turning you loose to fend for yourself; he continues to be there for you. He also conveyed that he didn’t get special treatment because he was well-known and that Dr. Batash treats all his patients with compassion and genuine concern. Dr. Batash treats from the heart.
