Erika Jayne, the star of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" and a seasoned performer, has recently been the subject of much discussion regarding her weight loss. With the premiere of Season 15 of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" on December 4th and her Las Vegas residency, "Bet It All on Blonde," keeping her in the spotlight, Jayne's appearance has garnered significant attention. This article delves into Jayne's weight loss journey, exploring her explanations, fitness routines, and dietary habits.
Erika Jayne Details Her Recent Weight Loss
During an appearance on "Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen," Erika Jayne addressed the change in her physique. When Andy Cohen remarked on her appearance, describing her as a "whisper of herself," Jayne clarified that her weight loss was due to hormonal changes associated with menopause, not the diabetes medication Ozempic. "I did come down in weight, and I did it hormonally," she stated, adding, "I was going through menopause, so I took it all down […] I went to the doctor and I said, 'Get it off.'"
In a later interview with ExtraTV, Jayne elaborated on her weight loss, attributing it to a combination of factors, including dancing, performing, and a bit of stress. "I've always been tiny. I got bigger through all of my depression and through everything else," she said. "There's nothing like dancing and putting on a show and a little bit of stress to get you right back into shape."
Stamina and Strength
Erika Jayne emphasizes the importance of both stamina and strength, especially when preparing for performances. “Stamina and strength (are) really the goal, and you’ve got to look good in your costume,” Jayne tells TODAY.com. She acknowledges that her weight tends to fluctuate depending on her performance schedule. “I’m a born and trained dancer from the time I was a kid. So, it’s something that I kick back in and kick back out, and my weight will come up and down.”
Fitness Routine
Jayne's fitness routine is multifaceted, incorporating strength training, Pilates, and dance rehearsals. She works out with a trainer, David Scott, at HVY Industry in Los Angeles twice a week for strength training, focusing on preserving muscle and bone density, which is particularly important during menopause. “That’s why I strength train. Because when I was younger, and before hormonal changes, you used to try to get all your cardio in because that was what would keep you leaner. Now it’s actually reversed.”

Pilates is another integral part of her routine, which she has enjoyed “for years.” She attends Pilates classes at Motivate in Los Angeles. “It’s good to go and lift and do strength training, of course. But when you back it up with Pilates, like, once a week, it gives you a certain - I don’t know why - but it gives you a certain type of fitness and strength. It’s a nice combination,” Jayne says.
When rehearsing for Broadway, Jayne says, "forget it.” Rehearsals for "Chicago" are intense enough without bringing more exercise into the mix, so her regular weekly routine is put on hold. “(Rehearsals) are about six hours a day. You’ll go to vocals, you’ll meet with a music director for a couple hours, and then you’ll dance for a few hours, and then you put it together.”
Dietary Habits
Protein is the cornerstone of Jayne's diet. She emphasizes the importance of consuming plenty of protein to maintain muscle mass, especially given the changes her body is undergoing due to menopause. “A lot of protein. Heavy on the protein because you don’t want to lose any more muscle than you already (have),” she says.
She enjoys protein-rich meals featuring chicken or steak. “I have to have it to get me through,” she says. Jayne is fond of pasta, particularly when she is expending a lot of energy during rehearsals. “When you are rehearsing for a show like this, you can eat anything, but on days that I’m not (rehearsing) like that, I’ll eat lighter.”
Morning Workouts
Jayne is committed to exercising in the morning. “Oh my god, when I was really a machine, I’d be in the gym at 5. Now if I get in there at 7, it’s a good thing.” If she can’t fit a morning workout in, she’ll try and squeeze it into her evening plans, but Jayne admits she doesn’t like to. “I hate it. Nine times out of 10, I won’t. Yeah, I’ll just wait until tomorrow morning,” she says. “There’s just something about going late. I don’t know. I can’t. It makes me freak out.”

Knee Health
Jayne is vigilant about protecting her knees, particularly her left knee, which she has injured three times. “I’ve had three knee surgeries throughout my whole dance career, and so the trick is remaining strong. And you have to maintain stability in the legs, quads, calves so that you don’t get hurt,” she says. She focuses on strengthening the muscles around her knee to provide better support.
Costume Motivation
The clothes and costumes she wears serve as a powerful motivator for Jayne. She considers the silhouette and lines she wants to create when selecting her attire. “What kind of silhouette am I going to have? What kind of lines am I going create?" These are the thoughts "that keep me the most focused,” she says. She avoids feeling constricted by her clothing, as it can negatively impact her performance. “I hate feeling tight in something that I have to wear on stage or on camera. … It will just ruin my entire performance.”
Health and Well-being
Despite speculation about her weight loss, Jayne asserts that she is healthy. “I’m healthy at 130 pounds. At 53 years old, I work out, I have a great (blood pressure),” she says. “I think that’s why I still am putting on shoes and kicking my legs." She says she's always thought this way about her body and her clothes.
Las Vegas Residency
Erika recently told BravoTV.com that she's "loved every minute" of her experience. "It has been so much fun to get back on stage. It's so great to be in front of people, to feel that energy and I’m just happy like to perform again," she said. "My last, like, real run of shows was Broadway, but until then, I hadn’t really had anything to sink my teeth into."
The "XXPEN$IVE" singer went on to reveal that a large part of the production was inspired by the stage persona she created years ago. "The overall vibe for the show is based around the six words that I built Erika Jayne on, which were: fantasy, love, escape, glitz, glamour, and fun," she shared, adding that the show is "80 minutes of a really good time."
