Overcoming Plateaus and Embracing New Habits

Erica revealed that she had been stuck at 184 pounds for a long time. She decided to change her habits in January. One of her strategies to break through this plateau was incorporating water fasting into her weekly routine. She also emphasized the importance of accountability, relying on her trainer and her sister Alana for support and motivation.

She wrote that she is currently 169 pounds but has a goal of 150. Despite the temptations of cooking for her family while adhering to a strict eating schedule, she remained steadfast in her commitment.

Candid Reflections on Past Experiences

In an exclusive interview on the Tamron Hall show, Erica Campbell delved deeper into her weight loss journey, sharing personal experiences and lessons learned. She revealed that she had previously undergone liposuction in an attempt to achieve quick results after the birth of her first child. However, due to a lack of proper aftercare, the procedure led to complications and ultimately proved unsuccessful.

"I did have a surgery, it was lipo," she told Hall. "I was young and really didn’t know the process of what you were supposed to do."

Campbell candidly described the negative impact of the experience, emphasizing the importance of understanding the process and committing to the necessary recovery steps. She recalled that her body was fine before the surgery, she just wanted to shed pounds quickly after having her first child, daughter Krista, in 2004. But going under the knife and not properly going through the recovery process necessary for the best results did a number on her physically. “It was really a bad situation. I was in a hotel room bleeding everywhere and they sent a nurse and some Tylenol,” she says.

Rejecting "Snapback Culture" and Embracing Self-Acceptance

Erica also addressed the pressure to conform to societal expectations, particularly the "snapback culture" that gained prominence after she delivered her last child, daughter Zaya, in 2012. She expressed her disinterest in participating in this trend, citing her past experience with liposuction as a deterrent.

"I don’t know that the snapback culture was so much when I had my first daughter, but after my last baby…absolutely. People were having mommy makeovers right after the baby," she says. "I had already gone through this experience."

Campbell's decision to prioritize her well-being over societal pressures reflects her commitment to self-acceptance and a healthy body image.

The Pandemic as a Catalyst for Change

Like many individuals, Erica Campbell experienced a shift in perspective during the pandemic. The period of uncertainty and reflection prompted her to re-evaluate her priorities and make positive changes in her life.
