Emily Simpson, known for her role on The Real Housewives of Orange County, has openly shared her weight loss journey, captivating fans with her transformation. This article delves into the details of her approach, encompassing diet, exercise, and mental health, while emphasizing the importance of individual choices and the journey towards self-improvement.
The Turning Point
Emily's decision to prioritize her health stemmed from a place of internal struggle. In 2020, she revealed weighing 215 pounds. It wasn't solely about external expectations but rather a desire to feel empowered and regain control of her life. As Emily admitted, “I had reached a point where I couldn’t keep hiding behind my own insecurities. I wasn’t proud of who I was at that moment."
Embracing a Holistic Approach
Emily Simpson's weight loss strategy wasn’t about extremes, cutting out entire food groups, or diving into the latest diet trend. Instead, she adopted a holistic approach, focusing on sustainable lifestyle changes.
Balanced Nutrition
Emily focused on portion control and balanced meals, understanding that she didn’t need to starve herself or restrict everything she loved. Instead of eliminating carbs or fats, she chose to make mindful choices. On Instagram, she shared that she doesn't count calories because that's too much work for her. She just keeps staples in her refrigerator at all times: ground turkey, spinach/lettuce, eggs, avocados, tomatoes, shredded carrots, black beans, corn tortillas, salsa [,] vegan cheese (I avoid dairy)…etc.
Emily also shared her go-to protein meals, revealing that she has a protein shake every morning after her workout. For lunch, she typically has two eggs with salsa and vegan cheese with sliced avocado, finding it easier to repeat meals she likes rather than trying to be creative.

She also shared a simple tip: "[Don't] eat past 6 pm and drink lots of water. Try it for a week. You'll see a difference!"
Emily clarified that she struggled with ‘mindless eating.’ She honestly never paid much attention to what she ate and she never planned meals. She would eat mindlessly all day and then think she never ate anything.
Consistent Exercise
Exercise became a non-negotiable part of Emily’s routine, but it wasn’t about pushing herself to extremes. Instead, she found a routine that worked for her. For the past few months, she’s been working out seven days a week on average. Of course, she misses a day here and there but it’s not often. Her workouts consist of 15-20 minutes of cardio followed by about 45 minutes of weights and then she ends with 10 minutes of cardio. Strength training became a staple, helping her not only burn fat but also build muscle and improve her overall energy levels.
Emily wasn’t obsessed with the number on the scale; she just wanted to feel stronger. When she started seeing results, it motivated her to push harder.
Mental Well-being
One of the most significant revelations for Emily was the impact of mental health on her weight loss. She didn’t realize how much stress, anxiety, and depression were affecting her body. To combat this, Emily began focusing on self-care. Meditation, therapy, and journaling became essential parts of her routine. She started giving herself permission to rest and stop feeling guilty for taking care of herself.

Addressing Ozempic and Liposuction
Emily has been transparent about her use of Ozempic and having liposuction. The Real Housewives of Orange County star took the rumors into her own hands when fans on social media started commenting about her dramatic weight loss. She admitted to using Ozempic to help “jumpstart” her weight loss, as her physician recommended the FDA approved injectable to help Emily once again feel like herself.
On the June 28 episode of Jeff Lewis’ SiriusXM show Jeff Lewis Live, Emily Simpson got real about her recent body changes. The Real Housewives of Orange County cast member revealed that, after being “really depressed” after gaining weight, she went to a doctor who suggested she try Ozempic - the semaglutide drug used for weight management - due to her being diagnosed as prediabetic. “So I did. I did that in December,” Emily shared on the show. “For one month, and you know, that was a great kickstart for me.”
Emily went on to reveal that while the drug was able to help her with certain habits like “not really paying attention” to what she was consuming, she ultimately stopped taking it because she was experiencing fatigue. “I didn’t like the way it made me feel lethargic and it made me just not have a lot of energy, which was hard with three little kids,” she explained. “But it does make you feel full […] it was like a refresh.”
She also addressed having liposuction on her arms, stating that she had been working out and lifting weights for years and that gave her a lot of muscle tone, she still wanted to get liposuction for some “stubborn” areas on her arms. “The lipo in my arms really made a huge difference aesthetically in my appearance [because] once my arms healed and the swelling went down[,] my arms were already very toned,” she stated. “I honestly don’t regret the lipo in my arms and I’ll never apologize for it or feel guilty.”
Moreover, Emily answered a fan who asked about getting skin removed on her arms in addition to liposuction. “Contrary to what people like to comment, I have had no skin removal or skin tightening procedures on my arms,” she wrote. “[That’s] not to say I never will.”

The Results and Ongoing Journey
Emily first answered a fan who inquired about Emily’s weight loss. “I think 35 pounds as of now. I have a goal weight in mind and I haven’t reached it yet. It’s what I weighed through my 30s,” Emily wrote in response. “I weigh myself weekly with [trainer Paulina Hefferan] and she has strict instructions to only tell me when I reach that goal (if I ever reach it).”
After several months of commitment, Emily had lost weight, bringing her weight down. But beyond the numbers, Emily noticed a more profound change. “I feel like a new person."
Emily’s weight loss story isn’t just about shedding pounds-it’s about the transformation that happens when we decide to take control of our own well-being. But Emily’s journey hasn’t been without its struggles. There were ups and downs, and not every day was perfect. She had days when she didn’t feel like working out, days when she ate too much, and days when she wanted to give up. But what she’s learned is that progress isn’t always linear.
Despite her transformation, Emily wants people to understand that her effort and hard work in the gym has contributed to her results. The RHOC star wrote on her Instagram, “Just a reminder that all women are allowed to choose what they do with their bodies and how they would like to age. I still work out hard and work out consistently, but once you reach a certain age there are just things you cannot change naturally.
