Remembering Gerard J. Dieter: A Life Well-Lived
To illustrate the kind of care and respect Dieter Funeral Home provides, consider the example of Gerard J. "Jerry" Dieter. Gerard J. Dieter, age 86, of West York, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025. Jerry, as he was lovingly known by family and friends, was the devoted husband and best friend of Glenna C. (Rodgers) Dieter. His life was a testament to service, faith, and love.
Jerry's life was marked by service to his country. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, an experience that shaped much of who he was. A man of strong faith, Jerry was a longtime member of Redemption International Ministries. His interests were wide-ranging-he enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, golfing with friends, and watching Orioles baseball. He was also a fan of the Baltimore Colts back in the day.
Above all else, Jerry was a family man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His gentle spirit, steady presence, and warm heart touched everyone who knew him. In addition to his beloved wife Glenna, Jerry is survived by his sons, Mark A. Dieter and his wife Jennifer, and David A. Dieter and his wife Patricia; and by his brother, John Dieter. He was the proud grandfather of Jessica, Breanna, Ryan, Ian, Hannah, and Alex, and great-grandfather to Chance, Luke, Cambria, Madelyn, Leah, Wyatt, Riley, Ethan, Sophia, Callum, and Lane.
