Chris Sowers: From Philadelphia's 6abc to West Palm Beach, Florida

If one thing is true in the city of Philadelphia, it’s that we LOVE our TV personalities. It’s especially true at Philadelphia’s ABC affiliate (WPVI-TV, 6 abc), where many of the station’s on-air talent have been on TV for years. In recent years, though, the station has lost some of its most iconic faces, and we just found out that another beloved on-air personality will be leaving the station after 13 years. Meteorologist Chris Sowers announced his departure from 6 ABC.

A Decade of Dedication at 6abc

His journey at WPVI 6abc began over a decade ago, where he quickly became a staple of the weekend weather updates. Sowers' commitment to his craft and his audience was evident in his willingness to share every detail of the weather, no matter the day or time. "The dungeon segments, the constant updating on social media (even on days off), I hope you can truly see how much you all mean to me," Sowers wrote in his announcement, reflecting on his deep connection with his viewers.

Sowers' work extended beyond the camera, with frequent social media updates that kept his audience engaged even on his days off. He has shared his life as a new husband and a new dad over the years. He is married and has a young daughter.

Moving On: A Difficult Decision

The decision to leave WPVI 6abc was not an easy one for Sowers, as he expressed the difficulty of moving on from a place that has become like family to him. Sowers announced, indicating his excitement to contribute to one of the busiest weather markets in the country, "A huge opportunity has presented itself and I will be joining the talented WPTV weather team in West Palm Beach, Florida in October".

Western Illinois Beginnings
