The catalyst for Chloe's lifestyle change occurred during a vacation in Aspen with her co-stars in March. She realized she was not in good shape when skiing. "We were skiing and I was so out of shape, it bothered me so much. I wanted to ski, but I physically couldn’t," Chloe explained to Us Weekly. "That's when I was like, 'OK, this is not normal.' Like, I want to be able to go down a mountain at least one time. It was hard for me to even, like, walk around with ski boots." This experience served as a wake-up call, motivating her to prioritize her health and fitness.

Quarantine Transformation: A Time for Self-Improvement

Shortly after the coronavirus pandemic hit, Chloe decided it was time to make a change. During the quarantine period, Chloe capitalized on her time at home to get in great shape. Instead of indulging in unhealthy habits, she chose to focus on self-improvement. “I was one of those [people] that when quarantine came about, instead of eating and drinking a ton, I decided to start working out three times a day,” she recalls.

Diet and Nutrition: Embracing a Plant-Based Lifestyle

A significant aspect of Chloe's transformation involved dietary changes. She adopted a vegan lifestyle, focusing on consuming whole, plant-based foods. “I went vegan, and I just eat a lot of vegetables and a lot of fruit,” Chloe adds. In addition to being plant-based, the Florida native pays more attention to when she’s eating. Chloe revealed, "So the biggest start was getting all the junk food out of my house and only having clean food at home. And when I'm out, I just choose. Are there options on the menu?"

Fitness and Activity: Staying Active and Moving the Body

In addition to dietary changes, Chloe incorporated regular physical activity into her routine. “I’m just as active as possible. I have a personal trainer, Haley, she’s amazing. I do yoga; I walk the beach; I rollerblade,” Chloe adds. She emphasized the importance of finding activities that she enjoys and that keep her motivated. "Working out, doing yoga, going for walks, going for bike rides and not eating processed foods."

In an interview with Us Weekly in June 2020, the MTV reality star shared how she capitalized on her time at home to get in great shape. According to the magazine, Chloe said, "I lost almost 30 pounds during the quarantine. Garrett's been helping a lot. It's more of a lifestyle change for me." She added, "I'm just eating better, being more active and I'm happier."

I went through my transformation about six months before we started filming this event. So, when we started filming again, I quickly saw parts of the old me and my old toxic tendencies come right out right away,” Chloe explains. She prioritized her mental health and well-being, even if it meant taking a break from the show. “I decided to take a step back from filming because it became extremely toxic," she previously wrote on Instagram. "I am unwilling to put my journey and my happiness on the line for fame and money."

Support from Costars: A Positive Influence

Thankfully, her Siesta Key costars were incredibly “supportive” of her decision. Juliette Porter calls her co-star and friend's journey nothing short of inspirational. "I feel like the people who were skeptic were the ones who didn't truly love her enough and I was worried too," she explained to E! News. "Does she really mean this or is this just a phase? A new beginning."

A Year of Transformation: Reflection and Pride

“One year later… When you silence the negative thoughts and listen to what your true heart is telling you; absolutely nothing can hold you back,” the reality star, 25, captioned side-by-side photos of herself via Instagram on Wednesday, March 10. “I am so proud how how [sic] far I’ve come physically but I am even more proud of how far I’ve come emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. This has truly been a year of transformation. And I can’t wait to share everything about my journey with all of you."

In an exclusive March 2022 video interview with Life & Style, Chloe gave an update on her weight loss journey. “Well, I think it’s one of those things … when you get in a relationship, you tend to be a little bit more comfortable, and I noticed that over the summer with Chris, you know, we were eating out a lot, but ever since we moved in together - you’ll see that on the show, actually - which was the end of September. “I mean, he’s currently running up and down the hill right now, and I think I’ve learned where instead of looking at it like a diet and just looking at it like a lifestyle, getting out in nature, doing something to move your body every single day is always gonna make you feel better,” she said.
