New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll and his wife, Beth, have recently captured attention not only for their roles within the NFL but also for their remarkable physical transformations. Their appearance at the "New York Giants 100: A Night with Legends" event at Madison Square Garden sparked widespread discussion and admiration for their dedication to health and wellness.
The Initial Spark and the Weight Loss Challenge
Daboll's weight loss journey began shortly after he was named head coach of the Giants in 2022. He initially dropped close to 50 pounds as part of an in-house bet with a colleague. Daboll is a competitor, and he wanted to win the competition. Daboll felt better as a lighter version of his old self, but to a coaching lifer, the rhythms of a football season are, well, the rhythms of a football season. While the exact details of the bet remain undisclosed, it served as a catalyst for Daboll's commitment to shedding weight and adopting a healthier lifestyle.
The New York Giants head coach also participated in an offseason weight loss challenge among staffers. The challenge created a supportive environment within the team, encouraging coaches and staff members to prioritize their health and well-being.
Pilates: Daboll's Secret Weapon
Giants general manager Joe Schoen revealed that Daboll's "addiction" to Pilates has been instrumental in his recent weight loss. Schoen told Kay Adams during an appearance on ‘Up & Adams.’ “He’s doing Pilates. The first week and a half he was dying. He could barely move, but now after sticking with it for a couple weeks he’s addicted.”
Pilates by DTR in Wyckoff (New Jersey). "It's called DTR Pilates in Wyckoff… I started going, first few weeks I was not too pleased with it.

Pilates is a low-impact exercise that focuses on core strength, flexibility, and body control. It can be particularly effective for improving posture, balance, and muscle tone. The practice has not only contributed to Daboll's physical transformation but also likely enhanced his overall well-being and energy levels.
Beth Daboll's Stunning Transformation
Beth Daboll has also undergone a dramatic transformation. She sported a white dress at the event. Fans on social media definitely took notice of the svelte couple. Together, Brian and Beth Daboll have inspired many with their commitment to health and fitness.
Daboll's Perspective and Past Experiences
Daboll has occasionally downplayed his weight loss, jokingly stating, “I don’t know about that one. It’s like throwing a chair off of a yacht." He acknowledged that it wasn’t a perfect journey. After initially dropping close to 50 pounds, Daboll said he regained about 20 pounds.
Daboll has a history of fluctuating weight. “I’ve got 30-40 friends. They kind of know my weight history, where it goes up and goes down,” said Daboll. He revealed that he once lost a significant amount of weight while coaching with the Cleveland Browns. “There was a season in Cleveland where I lost 112 pounds.
Daboll also shared a humorous anecdote about losing a bet to a friend. I didn’t lose nearly that much, but last year I kind of lost a bet with one of my best friends whose got tattoos everywhere, rides motorcycles, didn’t graduate from high school. He’s taking a trip down to South America on a motorcycle by himself, going all the way to the end and all the way back. He had to kind of take care of things this year because that was the main goal, to beat him. It started with the staff and the weight loss challenge we did, but my buddy Marty. I’m glad he had to take care of the things he had to take care of and not me this year.”

The Challenges of an NFL Coaching Lifestyle
The demanding nature of an NFL coaching job can be detrimental to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Daboll's personal turnaround continued in the offseason. He lost 65 pounds by eating better and exercising more.”
Tony Grossi of Cleveland.com noted that Daboll first started gaining weight while working as an assistant with the Browns, a lifestyle that left little room for exercise and proper diet. “He’d pore over film until 2 or 3 in the morning with Whoppers and soft drinks. He slept little and exercised less,” Grossi wrote.
Sean McDermott: A Role Model for Fitness
Daboll’s former boss, Bills head coach Sean McDermott, has also earned some attention for his fitness, though at the other end of the spectrum. The crew of the NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” named him the No. 2 fittest head coach in the league last year, and McDermott has opened up about the healthy habits he tries to keep despite a busy schedule. “It’s part of the competitive edge,” he said, via the Buffalo News. “My wife knows, there are two things, if Sean McDermott doesn’t work out or isn’t well-rested - and I’m usually not well-rested during the season - she’ll tell me, ‘Hey, you need to get a workout or a nap. You’re not right right now.’“There are so many stressors on our minds and bodies and our spirits in this profession, or in life right now, that you’re able to put your health first.
The Giants' Centennial Celebration and Future Expectations
The Giants celebrated 100 years as a franchise Thursday night, and their current head coach, Brian Daboll and his wife Beth, were looking their best. The Giants shared their special 100 Seasons logo to commemorate their first century as a team.
Aside from the in-person events, the Giants will launch a 10-part podcast series hosted by announcer John Papa, exploring the impact that players in the top 100 list made on the franchise. They will also release a book entitled 'New York Football Giants: The People, The Moments, The Traditions' in September and a documentary about the life of Wellington Mara called 'The Duke' this fall. To honor their former homes, the Giants will visit the Polo Grounds on the 100th anniversary of the team's founding.

The Giants will expect Daboll to navigate a loaded NFC East, get the most out of Danny Dimes (AKA Daniel Jones), and bounce back from a 6-11 season last year. Despite upsetting the Philadelphia Eagles in a one-sided 27-10 win in their final game, New York's 6-11 season has prompted Daboll and the front office to make changes among the coaching staff.
